Default Supertec 501X/B4 hybrid 2WD

We made a 2wd chassis to test a new layout for 2wd buggies. We made it fully in carbon fiber and aluminum because we don't like the plastic 2wd buggies from the big manufacturers.

The chassis plates, front damper mount, front and rear bulkheads are custom made. The rest of the parts are from a TRF 501X and the front suspension is from a B4.

That really does look like a top notch car. Really good CAD designs as-well. But just a question, do you think there will be a chance of a six cell version when it comes out. Or have you purposly gone with five for a better weight distribution.

looks interesting, but is there enough weight over the rear tires for a 2wd?

looks great i don't think there is any issue of weight over the back tyres moving the motor inside the chassis moves very little mass load to the front and any difference is counteracted by having there servo mounted further back.

hmm looks good, but only 5cell is a problem and I think the long, thin part of the chassis(between the front wishbones and electronics) looks like it could snap easily

Good Effort though!

Yes according to their web site

After three very busy weeks with car building and lot of work on the 2007 Off-Road Euros track and facilities in Vaasa we can say that Euros 2007 was a great event but not for the Supertec 2wd. We broke the car during the first day practice with no possibility to repair it.

Very nice indeed - the only thing it needs now is a front hinge pin brace

The front to rear weight distribution is about 2% more to the front compared to a B4(6 cells).

Left and right weight % is equal.

I'm sure this car will never be available, it is just a fun project. 5 cell is for weight distribution. For 2008 we will design a completely new front end and make some small changes at the rear end.

Yes it was stupid to run the car without it, but sooner or later we would have had to retire it as all the bulkheads were bent . But now we know to use high grade aluminium like 7075 for future projects.

Hey jimmy, thnks for those pics.
Looks mighty. Pitty it wasn't present at the IFMAR in Japan; would have been nice to see it in the flesh.
