Schumacher Cougar SV2 pinion gear help please
Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help. I'm trying to put a Speed Passion V3 brushless motor in my SV2. I have a HPI 28t pinion gear, but when the pinion gear if fitted to the motor it doesn't allow enough clearance to fit both screws through the mounting brackets and into the motor. Do I need a Schumacher specific pinion or something? Any help would be great, thanks. J |

I've got a 26t I can also use, but still can't see there being enough clearance to fit both screws through the mounting brackets and into the motor.

page 42 in the manual shows you what pinion you can use with what size spur. use the 2.58 ration chart

Use a 78/76 spur.

Ok thanks. Does anyone know what size spur is fitted on the assembled version straight out of the box?

I think it's an 83 tooth spur as standard

i run an 8.5 in mine and use a 24 pinion 83 spur, if you need more speed then use the 76 spur and you can go up to a 27 pinon but as always check the motor temp and esc temp, 80 degrees is the realistic highest you'd want to go although some will say different. one thing to consider is changing the boost settings to get you the top speed or punch out of the corners you require. i have run 24/83 with 35 dergees and it was as fast as an 6.5 which my friend has. hope this helps you.

Thanks noddy, that's a big help. I'm running 23/83 now. As I've been away from things for quit a few years this is my first ESC that comes with a program card thing, so I think it will take a bit of learning before I can adjust things like boost.
Do you know if they're quite easy to use once I've read a bit about it? |
