Default Trackstar TS150 odd behaviour

Asking for a mate as this one has me a bit stumped as well...

TS150 in his 1/8th hooked up to a sensored 2100KV motor. Works mostly fine but if you quickly flick the throttle, return to neutral then flick again (like you would blipping over a rhythm section) it slams the brakes on?

It's been recalibrated numerous times, new sensor lead tried, deadband is set quite high at 78us. Drag brake at 5%, but tried with zero too.

Second very odd part of this puzzle is programming. He bought a Trackstar prog box which refuses to connect in the slightest, but from messing around we found my Corally prog box works fine! Is it possible someone has managed to flash it with Corally firmware?

It seems to behave normally unsensored so it leads me to believe either the sensor board in the motor is a bit dicky or the sensor part of the ESC is not reading the motor position correctly on overrun.

Any clues please?
