K1 Fault?
I have just built the first of our K1's and I think there is a bit of a weak point there may be a fix for?
At a meeting just before Christmas I saw two team drivers have the same problem with the rear shock ball cups pulling out of the threads. They seemed to have this problem almost every race. I have just built my shocks and noticed the ball cups screw in far too easy and don't really tighten up as the thread is so loose. In other words I think they will pull really easy. Has everyone else had this problem and if so how did you sort it? Many thanks. |

Yeh I've also had this problem with the shock ball cups but on the front, I just super glued mine but the pulled out again, so I've shortend some spare rpm ones for now until I get new schui ones, then I will super glue the from the start I think, or find out if rpm do a similar size. Also had the balls pull out of the front carriers more than once, the ball threads are abit short.
Have you had any other probs with it yet? |

Other than that it has gone together well (one missing washer but I can live with that).
The first one I have built is for my son so I am a little concerned by the ball cups as it will be a pain if they keep coming out. Do we know if Schumacher plan to replace these cups? |

I have the same problem so I have put on losi ones (screw on fitting not ball stud) which suits me aim running full big bore springs rather than the tapered ones and need the losi seats

I suppose the fault is supplying them with the kit instead of 3mm ones then. Just a bit of a bummer if you didn't have time to source other ones. Really they should supply a set of 4 cups the correct size to each person who purchased a kit? Just a thought. |

It will be interesting how Schuey deal with this, if at all. A small issue but one that could of easily been avoided. |

It is a shame because other than that I love the kit and it all went together really well. I still have two more to build and it would be nice to build right in the first place.
I have ordered two sets of the Losi ball cups as on the USA sites that seems to be the favoured solution. |

The Ballcup and Shock shaft combination are designed to be used together, and have been used together for years! However, since the release of the K1, it has become an issue with them pulling out. We are working on a solution that should be available soon (1-2 weeks). In the mean time I would suggest 1 of 2 options: a) Tighten the ball cup up fully (ignoring the manual stated lengths), it becomes tight when you get full thread engagement. Do not over tighten as the shaft will eventually deform the plastic sphere that sits over the ball. b) The Cougar front rod end can be used, and is a slightly tighter fit. When using this, use a screw into the wishbone. Ensure the screw is long enough, and it may be prone to pulling out due to the M Flex wishbone Material. Personally, I've had no problems with mine, but I tighten mine up until they are tight and there is full thread engagement. If anyone needs to contact me about this, or any other issue, my email is Tom 'at' racing-cars.com.

Thanks Tom for the clarification, and good to hear the Schumacher are dealing with the issue.

Hi tom, after a couple of crashes I had one pull out, (had not fully tightened them) I did a fix by cutting some long ball grippas to the same size and tightening fully. Perfect after that. (did only have long grippas in my box)
Awsome car tho...
