Sorry for being so slow... but isn't it enough with 1 front and 1 rear?

(both goes to the centre shafts)

Don't they come in a pack of 2? (#TD310005)

I'm soon 40... things are going the wrong way...

Well I had an indoor race last week end on carpet and slippy gym hall floor. Olivier gave me the modified bits on the morning so I could mount them between two rounds. Hey I have the best mate!

I filled them with 10K front and 3K rear. I thought that diff action would be quite slowed with such thick oils, but no, they felt like a slightly tight ball diff on front and a newly-built smooth ceramic ball diff on rear.

You can still feel the hydraulic effect of oil by blipping the throttle while holding one wheel. To me (this is quite subjective though) the held wheel tries to spin harder than it would do with a ball diff.

On track, the tranny felt just fine, but that's a testimony to Olivier's awesome lathe skills. The car was very smooth and not louder by any means. I think that the louder pitch noise from Dex410s comes from the alloy chassis. Traction was very good. The car had a little to much rotation on tight corners, next time I will try with 15K-20K on front.

Is it hard to say if I was quicker with those mods as the race was on a temporary track. My home track is covered by snow by now so I will have to wait until I can do more tests, but it feels good to know that I can tune diffs as much as I want, from a super-free spinning diff to an almost locked traction machine And I can use driveshaft boots, yummy!

What brand of oil do you use?

Do you still use the Mid44 chassis? Pics?

I used AE oils, but I have some Losi bottles too. I don't know if they have vastly diffreent thicknesses, but it should be close enough for me.
I will post pics later.

Since I use lipos, I run a standard B44, with Losi shocks and now Durango diffs (obviously!).

I am thinking about coming back to the MiD44 '08 chassis though, with brass weights under lipos. That car was really good, easy to drive, quite fast and rather unique.

Thx!

Why not go for an Atomized B44? AFAIK it' the same weight distribution as the MiD44?

And even cooler dude!

I think that the motor is even more on the front on the Atomized?

Cool car for sure but I'm afraid I don't have fossil fuel under my garden

As on the MiD the middle shafts have swapped positions, so it should be the same I think...

And that carbon tub is übersexy!!!

Yeah but the slipper is also reversed on the Atomized B44... Come on SHY... you should know that, you have both cars...

The mod works really well, I find my B44 easier to drive, less twitchy on the slippery stuff as well as on carpet, and I even have better traction.

I put a list of parts used on post #11. OK, here it is :

The only tricky thing is to mount Durango shaft pinions on B44 center shafts. You need a lathe and some skills for sure (thanks Oliv! ).

Otherwise, Durango diffs drop into B44 housings without any problems, they are of same dimensions as the AE stuff.

You need:
- 2 TD210001 (gear diff)
- 2 TD310005 (pinion)
- 2 ASC1731 (AE HD one-way bearings, as the Durango is metric)
- Some diff oil

Maybe also:
- 2 TD310022 (driveshaft boots )
- 1 TD310039 (rings holding the boots)

So that's around €150, without the lathe job. Ouch!
