Default additional turnbuckle brace between "waterfall" and lipo strap?

I've seen some EVOs with an additional turnbuckle brace between the lipo strap and the top of the "waterfall" piece.

Is this a DIY mod?

Presumably the purpose is to reduce overall chassis flex?

Has anyone done it with the kit plastic lipo strap?

Thank you.

I think it's 'orrible!

The only way that it will add any stiffness is if the battery strap is hard down on top of the lipo. You are then putting chassis forces through the lipo, which I'm not a big fan of.

The plastic strap would be as effective as the carbon one with the strut in compression but would be about as good as a wet bus ticket when the strut became loaded in tension.
