The link in the first post doesn't work for me, but i'm guessing these pistons will just return to full length faster than they compress.

This is exactly what these do:

Those ^^ have been around for about 8 years now.
(Click return to previous page to see the shocks they are available for)

How much do the magic pistons increase the speed of the return?

If you use a #2 Magic Piston, is the down travel like that of a #1 piston? Faster? Slower?

Shame they can't be purchased in pairs...

Which is the most popular?

From what i gather one side of the piston is drilled at a angle, its acually quite a good idea having a faster downward stroke. What is really good you can keep the same set up as what you have now but gain the advantage on the downward stroke of the shock, e.g. over a bumpy section and jumps. I aint tried these yet, as i hope to save up for a set .

I understand they are tapered but what I was wondering was how big the effect was. For example, if you use Magic #2, does this have the pack of an AE #2 but the rebound of an AE #1?

pretty much that Toby the compression is the same as u would get from a standard Piston , but its the return thats quicker hence why its better then the standard ones .

I am a little confused right now...the flat side of the pistons should look down...right??? Or is it the other way around???

No, flat side should look up...

Also as with normal pistons, there is no 'best piston'. It depends on the track. The pistons allow you to keep smaller holes (good for landing jumps) even on rougher terrain (where you would use bigger holes). The pistons combine the positive effects of both.

For example with losi: On a rough dirt track you would maybe use orange piston instead of red to handle the bumps better. But then your car will slam down its chassis when landing from big jumps. With these pistons you just take the tapered red version. Over the bumps, shocks will go out fast as with orange pistons, keeping contact with the surface, and therefore handle bumps better. But when landing the jumps, shocks go in, using the non tapered side, giving you the effect of a normal red piston, so the car won't slam its chassis on the ground.

So in my opinion these pistons work best on bumpier tracks with larger jumps. Or high grip bumpy tracks, as almost any track in the UK.

Hi bud
All is well and good with my new B4/X6 front brace except for the fact it doesnt fit!
The holes in the back of the brace that are suppose to sit over the front bulkhead nipples dont fit.
They appear to be to far in and not spaced out enough.
Do you have any that do fit right or should i just return it

Also the Losi red 56 pistons that GHEA do, is there a link on the site to buy them?

Thanks bud sure you will sort the above fitting problem

Gareth

I am guessing your not using the Ghea front Bulkhead then if your saying that ? the Ghea front brace is only designed to work with the bulkhead also.

Tempted to try these pistons on my B4 as I'm waiting for my Cougar SV.

What's the current cost of no 1's and 2's if they offer the same pack as AE pistons.

correct Toby there are , and they dont come in pairs because normal AE ones dont and the reason is because sometimes you do use the same pistons in the front and back .
