You right the standard car is great as it is, however it has one weak point the front kick up, this was one of the reasons the chassis was done.

You also answered the same question as its now a strong, responsive car. Haven't broke a single part on the car since I put the convertion on 6 months ago.

Not everyone will see the need to buy it but then others will.

I don't think the chassis is much quicker than the standard car, but it is ALOT nicer to drive and reacts more to driver in puts.

The benefit of the new chassis is not really the extra weight - although if you added the 40g on top of the std chassis you'd be raising the C of G of the car, and changing the roll moment of the chassis, not just changing the weight.

The real benefit from a one piece chassis on the X2C is that it has much more consistent and controllable flex. The standard chassis not only has a lot of flex overall, but also has additional weak points where the front and rear T-pieces attach. These are extra points of uncontrolled flex, where the material does not influence the flex but the inherent weakness in a junction. Using a single continuous chassis gives much more precise control, giving a better response during cornering and also over bumps. It allows the chassis to be made stiffer for better response and consistency yet still retain the same bump compliance.

The main characteristics that everyone who has tried the conversion reports is that the car has better steering response (despite being longer than the standard car), generates more overall grip, has greater consistency and even better rear traction than the standard car.

It also has more setup options - moving the cell placement to change the weight distribution, raising the side plates to change the chassis flex and the option to change the rear anti-squat and lower roll centre. There is also greater development potential, which is something we'll be looking at over the next few months.

The standard car is very good, we just feel that this conversion makes the car better and as such is worth making available to the general public not just a handful of lucky drivers!

Fair points id say! And im very tempted! I thought about doing something similar but i dont have the tools and resources to make proto parts, drawings etc so it would of cost me millions

I think its a good price, £160 would be spot on but you have to make money to pay for all your hard work! Definately want one although id want a different colour, not a red alloy fan really... Other colours available??

What is the ideal donor car for this conversion?

Maybe a list with the must have upgrades and 1 with the bling updates.

The ideal doner car would be x2c or TCo2C

Upgrades would be:

Alloy Castle block instead of std plastic
Alloy Hubs (F/R) instead of std plastic
Upgraded Gearbox gears
And thats it. You have a solid, fast car after that

There are a few un-anodised parts from the original prototypes around, so as a special order we could either getting them done a different colour or leave them silver. They are exactly the same as the production parts, but cutting out the anodising process during production got the prototypes running about a fortnight earlier!

They are in very limited quantities though, and the main production kits will all be red I'm afraid.

This conversion is more money than a car kit:- 149.99 rrp, how can you justify a conversion kit which is priced more than the kit.

Did ansmann uk alow you to redesign their car ?

The car isn't being redesigned, if it was to be redesigned then it would be sold under the ansmann/ team c name but it's not its sold under akula conversion kit and the centro kit for a b4.1 is about the same money depending on the retailer, the kits will be expensive because of the high quality parts that make the car more stiff and responsive

As HPI Guy has said, the price of the convertion is around the same price as other ones on the market, it's the cheap price of the car that makes people think its expensive.

The project is Akula Racing, ansmann were not needed to be made aware of the project. Ansmann UK is only a distributer.

The akula kit is around £20 cheaper then the centro and the x2c is £50 less so £70 cheaper then a centro and the akula is probably better so it is already beating the centro, only downside is the front kick up plate

Awesome

You mean the kick up plate on the standard ansmann? Was a weak point. Akula chassis is one piece

Or if your on a real tight budget you could have a rolling chassis for £200 with a monkey as a doner but wouldnt be ideal as the shocks and turnbuckles are pants
