Default Still racing tamiya minis?

Hi all.

I used to race at the club about 4 years ago but i had to stop due to moving away.

I am now back and just wanted to know if the club still races tamiya minis and if it is still popular?

Ive had a look on the website but i can only see rules for 1/10th TC's and 1/12th GT + mardaves.

If not, i will probably look at getting a supastox kitted up to start out again

Thanks

Hi

The club is pretty much 1/10 Touring, GT12 (mix of Mardave and Supastox) although there are a couple of mini's now and again that run with the GT12s.

At the moment there is usually 3-4 heats of GT12 and the 2-3 for Touring.

For GT12 we are running 2s-21.5t or 1s-13.5t although the majority are running 2s setups.

Hope this helps

Hi Pieman,

the're still a few familiar faces from 4 or so years ago. You can approach anyone at the club and all will be happy to help you get back into it.

Good luck and see you at Glos soon

Hey Pieman, I can only assume you'll be coming to speak to Simple Simon
If you still have a mini you can certainly bring it tomorrow and race, but they are well off the pace of the GT12s. You can't go far wrong with a SS, they are now much more popular than Mardaves at the club. But Mardave cars can still keep up, I still run one.
I think the best move would be SS, with diff, on the right tyres, with 2S shorty LiPo and 21.5T. But you'll see what's what tomorrow.

Not sure what you mean by that? or who that is?

But yeah my preference will be a 2s setup as i already have a few shorty lipos.

Havent really decided over a mardave or SS yet.

Is any mardave platform allowed?

Sorry.. Simion Wabs is called Simon. You must be familiar with the nursery rhyme:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_...nursery_rhyme)

Anyway, back to reality... Yes any Mardave 1/12 platform is allowed. It's the V12 that everyone uses, most people using the Circuit Edition with the carbon chassis. I've got the fibreglass chassis variant.

Ah i see now lol i had no idea of the mention of my name in that.

Well, after my visit today, im definitely going to get a supastox ready to race.

Still plan to stick with a 2s setup on a 21.5t motor.

Big thanks to Kev and Mike for having a chat and giving me some good advice.

See you there soon

You won't regret it. I would recommend the LRP Carpet 3 additive too - damn good stuff. Get a nice shell on there and post up some pics!
