Random cut outs ... Ideas needed !
Hi all, need some ideas..
I ran my desc410 today with a skyrc toro 150amp esc and trinity monster power 5.5 sensored motor ... Randomly on occasion if I crashed and stopped still the truck would not move ... Steering was fine ... And when pushing throttle back and forth it looked a bit like it was rocking like it was trying to do something... To get it going all it took was a nudge forward from another truck and it was back to normal ... It didn't happen every time I stopped still ... Just randomly ... The Esc is new ( 4 meetings old) and motor is second hand ( looks tidy but don't really know how much use its had) ... I'm going to try change sensor lead , motor wires are soldered well , just wondered if anyone knows if this is a problem indicative of a particular issue ? Cheers Jon

had the same issue on my desc410 with a trackstar 150a esc, which i beleive is the same as the skyrc, it was cogging so bad it would not get going without a nudge, tried 2 brand new motors, 1 5.5t and a 6.5t but same on both, i went down a few teeth on the pinion which helped but could never cure it fully

Cogging
Ah Cogging ! I thiught with sensored motors that wasn't supposed to happen?although That sounds like the right term for what's happening... I was thinking of trying to strip the motor down give it a clean in case that will help..?

I had the same problem in my 1/8 electric running a hobbywing 150a speedo with a absima 2100 motor running it sensored it would cog and not run properly but soon as I ran it sensorless had no issues.
Just try it without the sensor lead and see how it goes. |

Just remove sensor lead you shouldn't have to adjust any settings on the speedo as it should detect that there's no lead attached and run in sensor less
Mode. When I was having problems with the hobbywing I looked for all the info I could find and found that it would work with some motors like nosram, lrp, and think reedy and heard Tekin worked with it as well. But I think with the absima motor it wasn't getting the right signals sent from the speedo to tell it what to do. |

When I was looking for info on the hobbywing speedo I was using I looked on the hobbywing website and searched through all the update info for the speedo
And that's where I found out that the speedo was compatible with certain motors and can run sensored with them and they had updated all the software in the speedo so you could run sensorless without any feel or difference to running sensored. I could be wrong on this but I think that some speedos like the hobbywing I had and yours don't work in sensored mode with some motors. But will run sensor less without problem. So I don't think anything is wrong with your speedo or motor but they are not compatible to run in sensored mode. |
