Poor range, sanwa

Am using a sanwa mt4 which I bought recently as second hand but only used a couple of times. All worked great but seems the receiver is playing up as it has a range of about five metres? Have used another receiver and that works spot on.
Presumably it's junk but as they're expensive wondered if I'm missing something? Had antenna in tube etc.

Is the antenna wire connected inside the receiver?

Yeah it's plugged on to the board, maybe could try a new antenna

The more expensive Sanwa RXs like the one that comes with the MT-4 use co-axial antenna wires and you have to be very careful with this as it's easily damaged.

It may be that the person you bought it from didn't read the manual and put a sharp bend in the antenna wire (which is the very thing that destroys them) and then decided to sell it on but his loss could be your gain if your soldering skills are up to fitting a new one

The reason he sold it was he wanted to try steer wheel but stuck to sticks. It worked spot on and I had some esc issues with two different escs which appeared to be knackered but came back to life with a different receiver. The antenna wire just plugs on to the board so it's easy to change.

You don't need soldering skills to fit a new antenna wire on, It just plugs on.

Just thought. You need about 50mm of the inner cable showing at the top. If this is not showing it will effect range.

Yeah thanks I trimmed the insulation off at the top and I think Its helped, will try it at the track tomorrow. Thanks
