Default Old Skool Brushed motor modifiying

Yeah ,I know all you fancy dan speed merchants use brushless these
days, but I've a few questions about good old brushed motors.

I have a spare 27turn stock motor that hasn't got a load of miles on the clock.
The brushes and comm are in pretty good nick,so I'm wondering about
having a tinker with it.

If I take enough wire off the windings to bring it down from 27 to 19 turns
would it still run?

Or do I have to get completely new wire of a different gauge and completely rewind it?

You would also need to balance the armature afterwards or the motor will shake itself to bits when you try to run it.

Looked on e-bay and there's fanny adams apart from that Ansmann Launcher 19x2.
That's why I asked about modding the 27turn(Parma Cyclone Stock,BTW).

Thanks for the offer stu,but my speedo won't run that(12turn limit).

For the price, the ansmann launcher 19 isnt a bad motor. Also it is a single wind and not a double. All of the ansmann launcher`s are single winds. (Well the one`s I have stripped 19, 21, 50, 55)

That's good to know.
There's a few brushed 19's in the For Sale on here that I've pm'd the sellers about,so if nothing turns up from the Oople Massiv I'll probably go for a
19t Launcher and see about re-winding my spare Cyclone stock down to a
17t for a larf(wild aren't I)

up until recently i was still using brushed and did fine. I have rewound motors in the past and it works but i advise you to wind tight and neat taking care to get the winds in the right direction. I belive either demon power products, lesro or top models will build you a new brushed motor if you want one.

Integy are selling off loads of armatures on Ebay at present.
This is a hand wound example, and they have some machine wound ones even cheaper

you will need slightly thicker wire if you rewind down to a 19 turn, if i remember correctly 27turn is 22 guage, 19 is something like 20 guage. also silver solder to resolder to the comm, standard solder will last about 30 seconds to a minute running before it melts, and if you want half decent results make a magnetic balancer to allow you to epoxy balance the comm afterwards, balancing makes a huge difference! try doing an 8 quad wind, 22 guage worked well for me and made a seriously quick 2wd motor!
