Is there 2 types of B4 outdrive?
Hey guys. Im trying to build a car based around B4 parts, but cant figure this out. I have a ball diff right here looking at me that I have been told is out of a b4/c4.1, is has a wider part and flange each side for the bearing, this design
But I'm also getting a lot of images of a smooth design with no flanges and no widening, this design Can anyone tell me which one the right one is/the newer or older design? Thanks |

Hey,
The outdrive 7668 & 7667 (left and right) are the old style outdrives, they take inperial bearings, 3/8 x 5/8. Used on the B4 line. The 9852 are the newer outdrives, these come with the B4.1 / B4.2, used in the C4.1 / C4.2, these use metric bearings 10 x 16mm. MiCk B. :-)

Yep,
The B4 / B4.1 & B4.2 gear boxes are different, but easy to tell apart. The old B4 gear box is narrow compared to the B4.1 /B4. 2 gear box. The B4.1 / B4.2 gear box is wider so it can take the gear diff. You also need the newer rear t-plate for the B4.1 / B4.2, gearbox is wider, so t-plate has a bigger gap for the gearbox to sit into. MiCk B. :-)

Where do the FT lightweight outdrives AS1766 fit into all this ? Ive just fitted them to my 4.1 gear box.... the 4.2 or SC10 rear plate is only needed for the geared box which I have also fitted to a B4.1 ..
