Default B.B.R.C Spring Mini Cup

BBRC Spring Cup

So everyone, I am happy to officially announce the "first annual" B.B.R.C Spring Mini Cup.

We've been discussing this for a little while now and have decided to spice the racing up by adding a bit more of a competitive edge.

This mini cup will be a mini championship held over six events ran over the next 2 months starting this weekend 28th of February 2015.

As anybody who has raced with us will know we like to keep things light hearted and have a laugh so don't want to get silly over things but at the same time want to make sure it's a fair event that runs smoothly as time will be limited at the new venue.

The Venue!!

We are really pleased to be able to confirm that for these 6 events we have been able to secure the "massive" Kingsley school Sports hall, Bideford. We think this could make a great location for some indoor winter racing and has the potential to run a track that is capable of running 10th scale heats alongside our beloved micros.

The hall has a full width (17-20m) balcony that will be a great rostrum and while no's are still relatively low we will probably pit up here as well.

The hall is easy to get to and has good amounts of parking.

The Postcode is - EX39 3LY

When is it happening?

The first race day is going to be - THIS WEEKEND 28th February 2015

We will have access from 9am with the idea of starting as close to 10am as possible.

Although please be aware it will be our first time in the venue and this could over run a little as we try to work out the track layout. As I said timings at the new venue are tight as we need to packed down and cleaned up by 4.00 PM, so any help that we can get would of course be greatly appreciated by us but will also get everyone racing more quickly and for longer.

We will confirm the rest of the dates after this weekend.

What will we be race??

Due to the fact that until recently we have only had access to village halls (of varying sizes) we have limited racing to micro scales (1/14, 1/16 and 1/18).

The new venue is easily big enough to run heats for 10th scale as well so we will indeed be doing so for the mini cup.

Up until now we have really only had 4wd in both scales running but if we were to get enough 2wd interested we could potentially add a separate heat in the future but for now they would run with the 4wd (although points would be allocated to a separate 2wd class results).

Mini Cup rules/guidelines!

1. Smile!
2. Have a laugh!
3. Be polite!
4. All entries will need to complete 4 events/race days to be included in the championship. If you compete in more than 4 of the 6 events we will take your best 4 results to count toward the championship.

5. Open tire choice.
6. No tyre sauce/additives.
7. 2s batteries only.
8. Hard case batteries for all 10th.
9. Lipo charging in lipo sacks/ secure metal boxes only!!
10. You must marshal the heat/race after your heat/race (if racing in double heats you must find a replacement marshal to cover you).

11. Please help to pack down and tidy up. Thank you.

Timing/transponders !! Important !!

This is for anyone who has not raced with us before.

We do not have/cannot afford an AMB timing system and as such currently use an infra red transponder system designed by Carl RC-Timing.com.

If you are thinking of competing in the series it may be worth the bargain price of £18 inc shipping to purchase one and would certainly make things easier and speed up the day’s proceedings.

As they are not the norm and time is short until the first event, we know we cannot expect new comers or one off drivers to have their own so we are going to try and get a few extra transponders that we can use as handouts but please be aware we you may need to share your transponder with someone throughout the day.

What we have done before is to arrange drivers without transponders into apposing heats allowing them to be swapping between heats.

We know this is not ideal but please work with us on this one as it is the best we can do currently with severely limited self funding.

Will there be trophies? - Yes of course!!!

Well you can’t have a championship without trophies can you.

There will definitely be custom machined Carbon fibre trophies for the following categories:-

Micro Class 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Micro Junior (14 or less) 1st, 2nd and 3rd
10th 4wd Adult 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Best crash (as voted upon)
Most break downs (as voted upon)

If we get juniors in 10th and or 10th 2wd entries then we will do trophies for these as well.

Fees

Per Race Day

Adult Non-Member £7
Adult Member £5
Junior (14 and under) Non-member £5
