Default Signal loss / poor range on Absima CR4T radio - sorted

I had recently bought a 2nd hand radio as above as I had previously been using an Absima CR3P and had liked it but had been advised the 4T gives more setting to improve control. I installed it fine in the same way the 3P had been but the range seems very poor. Once the car was more than approx 3m away the signal was lost. I tried a longer antenna tube with arial fully inserted (with the 3P I only had approx 5mm extending above shell and it was fine) giving a good 70mm of arial, but his made no difference. Is there something I was doing wrong? It works fine close up so is correctly bound, but just cuts out once car goes >3m from me.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like a damaged antenna in either the tx or rx

Cheers Paul. I have a new receiver so will give that a try and see how I get on. Thanks for suggestion.
I also think I can alter the CR4T to bind with the CR3P receivers I have and I know those ones work

Hmm.

Well I've just tried it with a different receiver and it has done the same. I ought to add that the receiver works fine with my CR3P transmitter.
However, when I bind to the CR4T it works fine close up and then until car is about 5m away and then loses signal, so that probably points finger at transmitter.

Is sorting out the tranny antenna an easy job or should I give it up as a bad job?

Just to close this one off, turned out to be a fault with Tx and Absima were superb and swapped it for me. Top marks and great customer service.

New Tx works fine
