Default Transponder possition

Another daft question by me....quite a reputation im building me thinks!?!

Where is the best place to fix a transponder in the Cat?
I dont have a PT but wondered where the safest place to fix a club transponder is? In the good old days we used to pin it under the wing, back then they were that heavy you could pull a wheely!

Cheers again,
cAp'nslo

I mounted mine on a lexan folded bracket that sat on the top deck (to avoid cutting a hole in the bodyshell) Was OK until I fitted the transponder on it's side to gain better belt clearance - at which point it missed a few laps.

It now sits in the wing.

My PT is mounted on top of the top deck just behind the front window. Never had any problems with missed laps

G, so is mine Inside black heatshrink

Have to be a little careful mounting it underneath though, depending on where your receiver is, and which receiver you use. When i was running NiMh at nationals last year, with KO 302 reciever, with PT under top deck i had massive interference (i.e couldn't drive car in practice at southport!). On top of top deck it was fine. Just that 5mm or so move made a massive difference.

Now i'm running LiPo, receiver is a touch further away from front of car/hence PT and all is fine with it under top deck.

I did have mean underneath the top deck for the stealth look but change to top for easier removal to other car . Plus also like the reassurance of being able to see the LED on PT when switched on..

About 99% of the PT's in Cats that I see are on the servo, mine as well.

A few guys have them on the top deck
