Which car should I buy?
Saw a vintage heat recently and quite fancied a go but what car is relatively driveable, cheapish and has reasonable spares availability? I only really have experience of some Tamiya's and already know that Hornets, Hotshots and Frogs are pants. And buying an RC10 seems almost like a cop out - the one I watched was within a couple of seconds a lap of the moderns which seems to miss the point of vintage. Needless to say it won by a country mile but where's the fun in that?

Tamiya RE-RELEASES are better than the Originals
Well, for Vintage Tamiya would be an easier choice with all the Re-Released buggies like the Frog, Hotshot etc. Parts/hopups are available for these Re-Re's also..
Question, for Vintage racing do they allow the 4WD's like the Hotshot to compete with the old 2WD's? If so I would get a re-re Hotshot because of the 4WD.. Is there a motor limit? Just questions...

If you want too stick with Tamiya have a look at my Vintage racer
http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_m...66645&id=18028 it's basically an Astute with some Madcap parts and the availability of spares is good especially on Ebay. Have a look at this thread for more info http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/inde...l=works+astute and this link for a how to build it guide http://www.tamiyaclub.com/article.asp?id=94 and have no doubt these cars do perform. If you would be happy to try a different manufacturer why not try a Schumacher Top Cat / Cougar or even a Kyosho Ultima Pro all great performers. As for 4wd you won't go wrong with a Pro Cat or Lazer, of course all this depends on the restrictions your vintage class has.
