Default Parts Import Tax, US to UK

Hi All,

Has anyone recently ordered parts from the States?

Looking at ordering £200 worth of small bits (large Jiffy bag I guess).

Wondering what the Customs Charges were like?

Any recent experience appreciated.

Cheers

Wrong. I'd suggest reading the link I put. £15 is the limit for commercial transactions

It's not a commercial transaction though is it? I bought 40 dollars of stuff the other day and didn't have a problem?

Thanks for the replies.

It’s an EBay trader, breaking new kits for parts.

Yes it is. It's a commercial transaction unless its marked as a gift. If you are buying from a shop then of course it's a commercial transaction. I bought $50 of stuff and got away with it because it was marked as a $1 gift. Doesnt mean it will happen everytime

Daz75 is correct.

When you receive your parts there will be a value/customs sticker added. It states you are allowed £15.00. Anything over this value will be hit for,

Handling fee, VAT, Import etc....

Like mentioned, If its marked as gift or value is changed below the US dollar limit you will not get hit for the above. With Royal Mail/ Parcel Force the Handling fee is £8.50 alone.

If you get hit you will receive a card through the door (its grey) not Red, explaining the amount and its broken down showing what the charges are.

Hope that helps.....
