Default Jeff's mid converted xxx

Hey everyone,

i thought i would show off my fun little project. after seeing others on this site i decided to give the mid motor xxx a shot and converted mine over. i made some braces and a new hinged battery strap/ chassis brace to stiffen it up a bit as well.. here are some pics sorry as they are not the best. more pics to come and more updates as i want to mod the tranny to get the slipper on the other side and some more rea-end mods as well.

let me know what you guys think.

i like the hinged battery strap idea and the fact that it also supports the chassis, great work!

thanks ... i just need to get the tranny modded then i can mount my other body that i have yet to paint then put some other peices on it more like finishing touches. then she's all done.. but i will do another chassis for it and put back on all my EA3 parts.

also if any body has any suggestions as well please feel free to post them also keep posting your thoughts on this .. i like to hear what you all think of it.

If you have a search for my thread regarding a mid motored XXX you will see that i did a full change over of the gearbox.
Complete redesign as at the time i was running 27turn Stock and therefore fixed timing so i needed to run the motor the correct direction.

Got to say thats one of the most neatest conversions i've seen, even better than some of the 'non existant' mid cars the team had made back in the day which i'd managed to get my eyes on to!

well done

nudge : i have done a search before many times and nothing about your build came up at least with your screen name on it. but i did see some pics on someone else where you used a bk2 tranny.. if you have any better detialed pics that would be great to see as i am going to be flipping the tranny hopefully today on some test cases.. i am waiting for my new cases as i run the gear diff from the desert truck and tune it with silicone oil.. (it is drives just like my ball diff but i dont have to worry about it slipping or rebiulding. plus it was only $13. haha)

pual: thanks for the compliments. i never got to see any pics of the team cars but there were some body on spy shots some where here on oople that jimmy posted a long time ago.. i think they were saddle pack tho. i just have a bunch of stick packs for my 2wd haha..

Hi Jeff,
I will try to get some more pics of the gearbox cases for you.
Basically all i did was drill a hole in the case opposite where the slipper shaft goes in and then turned it around.
I used some old Corally Tubes to space the motor plate out to so it is in the correct position.

okay, all that is going to happen now is get one of my new EA3 chassis' prepped and milled sometime at work and put a xx4 rear bumper on and i want to use the mounts on the back of the shock tower as a way to mount a sway bar. i will continue to make updates to the car as more testing continues and do what is neccessary if i feel it needs improving in certian areas. i have good feelings about this car and it reminds me of my tekin converted rc10 t that i have. just better haha. i do want to try and do some more research and try making my own body for this car. i have always wanted to do that.

A Fellow racer here in Sweden have made some bodies from PET-bottles.
Here's a link to his page, a "how to" can be found at the bottom of the page:
