Well said on the above Chazz.

It'll be great of once you have your final design to produce an article with the development stages, testing etc be very interesting to see how you got to the final version of the X7.

One of the things that held up the new 4WD for a while was that it was difficult to assemble the center section of the car. We changed the design of several parts to make it easier and quicker for the average club racer to work on. Several parts will be more expensive for us to make, but it will be worth it. In one case, the re-designed part is better too. So a win-win, but it set us back a while.

Each new iteration of the X - 7 has been both faster and better. It's easy not to have both...

Will the X - 7 be going down the metric route for all the screws/nuts and so on.....?

No, we're staying with standard hardware for now. All else being equal (cost, supply, availability, etc), IMHO 4-40 screws bite into plastic a tiny bit better than 3mm hardware.

4-40 is a bit coarser, and if you start to feel the plastics, you can toss in a m3 since they're a bit bigger. My dislike about 4-40 is needing o use a 1/16 on flat and button head screws, buttons suck with the tiny hex wrench, where as m3 uses a 2mm which seems to survive a bit better.

Fair enough. I dislike button-head screws for that reason - the screw head is so shallow, and with the small 1/16th wrench they are easy to strip. The flat head's have a deep enough hex that I don't generally have problems; they wear out (on the rear, bottom of the chassis) before I strip them.

Default Ellis Second At Oz!

Great news for X - 7 development! Ellis Stafford received his Gen 6.2 a few weeks ago and piloted it to 4th on the grid and a second-place finish in the A mains at Ozwestry. Well done Big E!

This goes along with Ellis' 3rd place finish several weeks ago at Stotfold.

We are very close now!

Stay tuned Doc. Paul and I just todayproduced a video talking about the X - 7. We still have our fingers crossed for late this year. Just a small amount of work left to do, and the vid describes that. Planning to release the vid Sunday.

We just got permission from the guy who shot it to have Paul do commentary on a video of a big 4WD race. Not sure when he'll get it done -- lots of production work, but it's a great race and I know he's got some insights to share. Hopefully we'll get it done in the next 10 days.
