Default Dont understand the 'national' requirements.

Am i right in thinking that you have to compete at regional before national events?

tried looking gor the information on here and BRCA website, but couldnt find what i was looking for.

Can anyone clear up or point me in the right direction?

many thanks

Matt

no, if you haven't competed in a regional, you will have an F5 licence grade, so you may have a good chance of entry if you book into ALL the nationals, but if you don't, probably be on the reserve list.

The only reason you'd need to compete in regionals is to raise your driver grade. Higher driver grades get preference at Nationals - so if you've not raced before you'll automatically be the lowest grade which is F5. Getting into a National event with an F5 grading used to be easy - but bigger numbers racing now mean it's very hard to get a place.

You don't need to race regionals to do nationals - but it helps.

ah ok, thats cleared that up.

So probably not a good idea to book a load of hotels now, considering i havent raced regional or national.

If i were to do a season of regional and get a beeter grade, would i get priority in 2011?

Also, if i were to do regionals this year - get a better grade - , then do nationals next year (but not regionals) would i lose my grading?

I have probably confused you all now

well, there is no harm in sending off your entry to the nationals, if you get in, you get in, then you can book hotels. You can also do the regionals too, and may have a better chance of bumping your licence grade up more than at a national.

Thanks DCM/Jimmy

I have found the dates for the nationals, but not the SE regionals, any idea?

priority is given to those drivers who intend to compete at 4 or more national events, F1's national F2's, F2's, F3's etc any remaining places are then allocated to the rest, assuming you do the regional series then it is fair to say should you reach F3 then you would get a place at the next seasons national, however if you did not do the regionals in that season your grade would drop by one place to an F4 in this case.
as for hotels, get a tent and join in the randomness that goes on, hotels are for girls.

Even if you'd get in at Nationals I reckon it'd definitely be worth doing a year of regionals first irrespective of licence grading just for the experience IMHO. Although many of the same drivers compete in both it is a definite step up or three from regionals to nationals. A finalists at regionals (depending on region) can be in H/J/K at nationals.

Crikey! Wish i'd known all this before booking into all the nationals this year.

So as Matt said where and when are SE (or SW?) regionals?

Coming from TC background lots of the rules re racing are a bit confusing. License grades, regionals before nationals etc.

So is there a dummies guide to getting going in "competitive" off roading?

Mark

Wahey! I can stay in a hotel!

Seriously thinking of doing 1/10th off road this year, as long as it didn't clash with my TC either. To be honest, I think I've got too many cars on the got at once thought
