Default BRCA Truggy and E8 Buggy round 3 race report - Wakefield

BRCA TRUGGY AND E8 BUGGY ROUND 3 RACE REPORT

The championship for round 3 ventured up North to the MMRX track at wakefield. The first challenge was for the track members (Andy Mitchell) to prepare the track so that we could race on it, as it had a week of rain up till thursday on it. When we arrived on Sunday morning at 7 O'clock the sun was out and the track looked perfect which is a credit to the club.

Normal format resumed for the race meeting which was 6 min practice run followed by 3 qualifying rounds of which the best 2 would count.

The E8 Buggies were first off with Elliot Boots and Darren Bloomfield leading the pack. The roles were reversed in round 3 with Darren posting the fastest time of he day with his agama of 9 laps in 6min 5.56 sec. The other positions were closely fought out throughout the day.

The Final places were as follows

1 Elliot Boots
2 Darren Bloomfield
3 Callum Niblett
4 Ashley Owen
5 Simon Willetts
6 Simon Reeves
7 Michael Lewis
8 Jess Mitchell
9 Ian Barnard
10 Andy Mitchell

For the truggy class it was the first most of them had driven a truggy around the flowing MMRX track. Straight away Darren Bloomfield used he skill and track knowledge from running the E8 Buggy around to post the fastest time and be the only driver to complete 8 laps. The next 11 drivers were on 7 laps. This was to change on round 2 with Jon Howells (team Associated) and Michael Lewis (TLR) close on his heals. On the final run young driver Lewis Beach had an impressive run joining the 8 lap club.

The final standing were as follows

1 Darren Bloomfield
2 Michael Lewis
3 Jon Howells
4 Jonathan Skidmore
5 Lewis Beach
6 Jim Thompson
7 Michael Shorey
8 Llyod Pitt
9 James Tatlow
10 Allan Bridgeman

So on to the finals. The B Final E8 Buggy were the first to race. This was a 12 min race with the top 4 to bump up. Pole sitter Rhys Herds race unfortunately did not go to plan and brought his car home in 5th place just missing out on a bump up.
The bump up positions went to the following
1 Lewis jones
2 Tony Truman
3 Jon Howells
4 Llyod Pitt

The A final lined up on the grid after the drivers had been called up onto the rostrum. The first car was a Kyosho followed by Agama, Mugen, Hot Bodies, Mugen, TLR3.0, TLR 3.0 Kyosho. So it was going to be a hard fought final not just for personal pride but also manufactures. From the word Go Elliot left the line in a cloud of dust. Darren was trying to chase him down but had to retire on lap 6. Tony Truman kept the Agama flag flying though with an impressive drive after bumping up into the A Final bringing his car home in second place. Third through to eight place stayed the same as their qualifying positions.

The final 10 places were as follows

1 Elliot boots
2 Tony truman
3 Callum Niblett
4 Ashley Owen
5 Simon Willett
6 Simon Reeves
7 Michael Lewis
8 Jess Mitchell
9 Lewis Jones
10 Ian Barnard

The Truggy B final lined up on the grid for their 15 min race. pole sitter Neil Sivins ran into trouble on lap 4 and had to pull out. This left it for Andrew Beaumont and Dean Coupland to fight it out as they were the only two on the same lap. The top four bumped up to the A final which were

1 Andrew Beaumont
2 Dean Coupland
3 Steve carter
4 Ian Slater

The Truggy A final was a 25 min race. Darren Bloomfield started off his busy day in pole position and stayed there lapping the entire field. Michael lewis and Jon Howells were fighting it out for the other steps on the rostrum. Steve carter had an impressive run starting off in 13th and finishing in 8th. The following also improved on their starting positions Lewis Beach, Llyod Pitt, Michael Shorey, Dean Coupland and Ian slater.

The final 10 places were as follows

1 Darren Bloomfield
2 Jon Howells
3 Michael Lewis
4 Lewis beach
5 Llyod Pitt
6 Michael Shorey
7 Jim Thompson
8 Steve Carter
9 Jonathan Skidmore
10 Dean Coupland

At the end of the day most people left the meeting with red faces after the fantastic weather that we had all day. To top that was the hot racing we had from all that travelled to wakefield. With 2 rounds left the championships are still open. Although the race numbers were low due to some racers committed the other scale championships hopefully the support for the championship will continue at the next round which is on 6th July at Kent. A massive thanks goes out to Andy Mitchell for great track conditions, the catering staff, Chris in race control and Ashley as referee.
