I know Chris Patterson from the Northeast region runs a GTB in his X5, but I haven't any photos unfortunately!! Not sure if Jimmy will have photos posted of Chris's car from the northeast regional series???

This is image is courtesy of the www.4wdrc.com forum!!

The image seems to disappear at times, so if you go to the X5 section of the forum at the above website and look at the neat wiring thread you will find some photos of a few cars with GTB brushless systems in X5's.

Sure Jimmy won't mind this link, as he has placed links to this website in this reviews, please remove if its an issue though!!

Paul is now sponsored by Novak, so I guarantee you a GTB is going in both his X - Cars. We'll have pix up when he gets his stuph.

By the photo shown, it looks like the fan will clash witht he X5 shell, as it is narrow there. I would suggest putting the GTB at the back behind the 2 cells, and dremelling away the semi circle and part of the square section.

Alec Springer has one in his X5 but he has had to cut quite a lage square out of the front of his shell (Suppose it helps with the cooling )

My understanding is that if you remove the plastic spacers between the fan and the speedo it fits in without touching the shell, but I've never seen this myself.

If it just touches a fraction then if you're getting a kit and/or a new shell you could fit it up and then heat the shell and push it out a fraction, easy enough to do!!!

I know Ellis has fitted the Nosram speedo AND recevier (small spektrum one) in front of the motor so there is a fair amount of space in there. Personally I have a Tekin G11 speedo (quite large) and a fan in front of the motor and there is space to spare. I chose to run it this way withe the receiver at the rear right of the car and the handout transponer on the rear left side for balance.

Dan

Hi M2D,
It looks good, but I suspect the body will touch? Can you show pictures of shell?

thank's alot Chris,
the technics for fan of GTB are to go out the spacer and slide the fan a bit at the rear and a bit at down. if the body touch,it's on the box of fan and it's not on the fan rotor .

and another body.....

I had one of those bodies too, I like the shape, but the lexan seemed brittle and it didn't last long

I may get another some time, do it in single colour (so not to waste somebodies time in spraying it) and use a lot of 'fender mender' and save it for when I need a 'high visibility' shell.... Flourescent Orange???
