Default DEX210 Long Outdrives (TD310417) Pictures

When you're not used to the DEX210's short outdrives, the name suggests some kind of Limo-style extensions for your drivetrain The description on the TD website says it's to make sure the driveshafts are properly seated on extreme droop angles.

Sounds logical, and it made me curious: how much longer did they make them? Emailing TD didn't result in a response - I guess they might not have one lying around, and they'd rather have me buy a set to find out, too Fair enough. But now I have a set, I thought I'd share with you what they're like:

They're 1.25mm longer. It should be just enough to help those who are having issues with the seating of the driveshafts.

It also got me thinking on the fast wearing outdrives of some drivers, and thought that maybe the outdrive could wear way quicker if the seating is bad (the outdrive might not transfer the power evenly between both sides of the dogbone pin, or jitter due to bad seating may cause premature wear).

I can't confirm that, they're just theories. Neither do I know if it uses a different material (it just looks and feels the same, which doesn't say much), but I thought it might prove to be interesting to try out for some 210 drivers

The gear diff outdrives are already longer that the standard ball diff outdrives.

Cool, thanks for sharing that! Could you share a picture or measurement with us? (for example, distance from the end of the left to the end of the right outdrive - so simply when you stick the diff between some vernier calipers?)

I can do that for you after I finish work in 6 hours, if I'm not beaten to it.

Very nice, thanks!

I thought I'd do the same measurement on my ball diff - it's new and is currently still fitted with the short outdrives:

I may rebuild the diff soon though to put the long outdrives on. If I do I'll measure it again, but from the measurements I have of the short vs. long outdrives, the long outdrives should make the ball diff 49.05mm wide.
