Default Track Designs

Hey Guys.

We would like to have a little feedback about the track last week. (8/1/12)
so we can improve/change things for the next meeting.

Also if anyone has any ideas for tracks let us know. We will work something in for you.

Couldnt fault the track on sunday, really enjoy the 50/50 carpet and slippy floor. This led to very close racing, where our heat was within a lap of each other.

Yes it is Matt, I'm not trying to hide it.
The thread is from a club point of view not my own.

I'm not "trying out for the committe I am on the committee"

If you can't post something constructive, don't bother. Or "WE" being me or the other committe members will remove it.

Right, just my thoughts:

Track flow and carpet/slippy mix was spot on. Mats/ripple section was fine.

The 'L' shaped tabletop was ambitious and worked well for more experienced and more cautious drivers, but not so well for absolute beginners and the terribly impatient.

Despite providing easy 'bail out' options for drivers over or undershooting the exit ramp the whole thing did seem a little narrow... there was basically one line over it for racing and worse still, some were still struggling to consistently hit the up ramp by round 4. If the up ramp had been in a slow section (eg just after a hairpin) then I reckon it too would have been spot on.

Hope this helps.

I think you could do with some more materials for making ramps and things.
Just some sheets off ply and maybe some pallets.
The only other thing i would suggest is cones for marshal points.

We have cones, But they got left in the storage at the outdoor track!

Johnny made a few small ramps, We will use them next time.
I think your right, A few more bits would be good.
mainly flat pieces i think then we can use the benches too.

If bury can get some sheet materials i don't mind cutting it into sections.

Ideally you need some proper car tyres cut in half to help keep the track in place and mark the corners out.

Default Tyres

Do they have to be pink like the ones we've got?

Something else, who's going to move all these new bits and bobs jumps and whatever?
More taping, especially the guttering, and more forethought into design.
Marshal points and overtaking places. Even experienced racers, I have found, forget these points.

There just didn't seem to be enough stuff to hold the track in place?

The BMRCC person asked for feedback.

As to how you do it is up to you? Don't do it if you don't want to?

Will a few tyres make a big difference in what equipment you have to move?

There looked like a lot of people willing to help put the track up on Sunday,

we really enjoyed ourselves!

I deliberately adjusted the track to make a clear path round it to ease marshalling, but agree designated posts in the middle would help.

I thought the mix was good too - unlike Coney Green I found that the polished floor wasn't that bad even with a 2wd. The table top was a bit pointless in that it used most of our boards but didn't really make anything that exciting in the end - I'm sure there are better options.

Given that the track works better without too much carpet, we could always remove some and replace with better corner markings. That make it no more work setting up, but keeps the track in place. That said more tape helps - where the track was taped down it didn't move as the tape sticks well to that floor.

Oh, and Phil - don't bombard my inbox with complaints when you get posts deleted. I didn't do it, and in any case what do you expect when you say stuff like that.
Just so as its clear - BMRCC is registered in MY name and the mod status is technically assigned to ME. If I'm happy letting others use it thats MY business.

I really enjoyed Sundays track I could of done with a bit more grip but that's the trouble with a lazer. Have to agree with damian on the tyres and extra jumps we will get it together we've only had a few meetings there but the venue does have potential
