Default New Venue at Wincanton BA9 9EJ

Many of you have done the 2 polls on what sort of tracks and whether you would travel to them.
Although not the perfect location on the map BUT the perfect scenario with everything there, from cafe to showers, camping and the list can go on and on and on........even wi-fi free of charge for everyone. The question is would you go to this location......
Wincanton, Somerset BA9 9EJ

You can all assume the track will be good as everything else around that - the question si whether you would travel to this location - a simple yes or no

It's 150 miles from my house so not for a midweek or Sunday meeting but yes for a national. But lets face it if you hold a national you would expect people to travel.

looking good for a winter championship and Nationals- but not for club nights/days

Its an absolute swine to get to from N.Wales, over 4 hours @ 219 miles. Possible for a national, but not a for a weekend one off.

Potentially anything around the M4 would be a better bet.

180 miles and 3-3.5 hrs driving each way from my house - that'd be a no from me unless it was for a National etc (of which I don't do).

Sorry.

75 miles for me and just under 2 hours. That would be fine if it's a cracking track for weekends but too far to go in the week for club meets etc.

As it's not far way I think you would get plenty of the old crew that used to go to Tiverton showing up regularly.

My only concern would be that there isn't much in the way off off-road going on down in the South West (as far as I have been able to find out anyway) so there may not be enough regulars, as in at least once every week, to make it commercially viable. I am assuming it would have to fully pay its own way of course rather than being a "sponsored site".

Other way of looking at it is that as there are few tracks in that area it could be a growth zone!

Hmm, at 3hr30 then I'd need to be bloody confident of a dry day before setting out!

Would probably stretch to once a mth or so if dry!

MASSIVE from me...45 miles, an hour from home in Weston-super-Mare...in an area severely lacking in outdoor tracks for 1/10th!

Only the Tiverton track is nearby, which I admittedly don't use often enough myself because I run in Wales a fair bit...we'd be in danger of having a real south west region if this location got used!

I would have to admit, the Southwest is light on tracks, clubs and consequently drivers, especially when you compare it to the midlands regions. So numbers would be something that would need to be grown for good regular local turnouts.

There was someone putting a petition/list of drivers together to help get council backing for a track in this area a few months back...is it related to that by any chance?

That lovely charm, Google says 118 miles 2.5 hours and a straight run down the motorway then some A Roads. So if i get into 10th a bit more next year, maybe for a weekender.
