Default Old School Racer Making a Comeback...?

It's been a while since I made an intro on a forum but here goes...

I started racing at my local club in around 1992, racing my newly purchased Tamiya Escort Cosworth. The bug bit and I became a keen R/C racer! I did around 8 years of racing before I quit in favour of the real thing, as I passed my driving test in 1999 and the appeal of cars, alcohol and girls was just too much to resist...

Fast forward to 2019 and a guy at work tells me that he's looking at racing R/C cars after a long sabbatical, so after telling him my story I joined him at a nearby club to have a look. They had a club car that was available to hire so I had a go, and to my surprise I could still race, over 18 years later!

I'm completely clueless about modern cars, apart from what I've learned from the local club, so I thought I'd join a forum... And here I am!

Welcome back!

This time last year I was in exactly the same predicament, although my beer, bikes and women phase lasted 30 years.

It won't take long to get acquainted with the latest tech, don't be bewildered by any of it.

Thanks mate!

Hardest part is deciding what to race... 1/10, 1/12, buggy or touring car!?
The local club caters for all so I've got a decision to make!

Blimey, which club is that?

Only you can make that choice, it's what appeals to you most. For me, it has always been and always will be off road - currently have a 4WD, 2WD, Short course truck and now dabbling with an 1/8th nitro too. Being an old WRC Rally fan I think helped sway my decision back in the 80's! Plus, I like being outdoors.

Stoke-on-Trent, although I live over in Cannock which is a bit of trek.

I've been offered a Schumacher MI6 Evo for what I'm told is a good price. I'm assuming they're a good chassis being Schumacher!?
