Vampire motors are worth considering. Cheaper than most and good performance. The v1 motors are more punchy and the v2 are smoother but still have loads of top end.

Might be worth looking into is the speedpassion v3 1cell
Lee Martin I think used a 6.5 so he got nearly the same top end but punch of a 7.5 easier to drive as I say this was a while bk but something u could look into ? Just an idea

Also look at brands that have a rpm and torque range and go for the rpm as they are more top end power

I loved the speed passion v3 motors, until the connectors worn. U can't beat a direct solder job! Look at the thunder power ones been told they r very good, I run orion vst2 ones

Getting the Durango ready the other night I noticed that one of the 4mm ESC connectors was a bit loose when plugged into the LiPo so instead of going through all the aggro of soldering on a new one, I just changed the sprung part on the male terminal and it's good as new, you should be able to do this with the SP motor connectors as well when they get a bit worn. Are they 3.5mm? If so they're easy to get hold of

Agree with John, the Vampire V2 motors are perfect if you like a smooth motor. I use the V1 when I want a real kick but for 2WD the V2 are very smooth and progressive with excellent top end. I use a 7.5 V2 in 2WD and a 6.0 v2 in 4WD

Cheers for the help ran it today with the 7.5t ( normaly run 5.5-6.5t ) and the other 4wd's being 5.5t-6.5t's etc , i must say it went pretty well ( was a bit unsure before tbh !!) was soo smoothe and was not getting out paced by the 5.5t's a great deal .. qualified 3rd finished 2nd

soo have now decided to keep it smoothe , am going to run a 7.5 for 4wd and 8.5t 2wd

just got to decide what make to go for ??!!

considering the reds racing or the absima motor ..??

I'm running thunder power motors for 2 seasons without issues, they're great value, smooth and quick. I like the end bell design, the way the sensor port is at a different angle and the different approach to timing adjustment.

The latest Reds Racing motors look a lot like the Thunder Power motors so probably share the same internals but different can. The only motors that don't look generic are the American companies like Tekin and Novak.

I'm liking the Orca motors smooth and good top end. Don't go cheap as everything in life you get what you pay for.

I'm running LRP X20s, using a 7.5 in my 2wd and a 6.5 in the 4wd.

I am however running them both with LRP Flows as the ESC has some timing settings that only work with X20 motors.

I've run them on high grip astro and polished floors and have to say low end is good, nice and smooth but not lacking in power either.

I haven't really tried any other motors since getting back into racing but people have commented when having a go with my car that its smooth through the lower power band.

Might just be the ESC but the X20s haven't let me down yet and I bought them both 2nd hand
