Brushless Stock Cat SX
Hi All,
I've had my Cat SX for a few weeks now and have been slowly getting the set up right for my local club. We race indoors on gym type flooring and are limited to 13.5 Brushless or 27T brushed motors. And here lies my problem.. I'm using the following electrics, 13.5 Novak motor (sintered rotor), LRP Sphere Speedo and Trakpower 3600 lipo but just can't get the gearing right. Using the same equipment in my BJ4 the car flys, plenty of punch/acceleration and loads of top end. Transferring this to the Cat SX with kit gearing and a 23 pinion and the car is lifeless, no punch and no real top end.( yes the slipper is tight and the diff's are not slipping) I've tried a gearing up and down but with no real improvement. I'm beginning to think that the Cat just isn't suited to Stock motors If anybody can help with gearing for a 13.5, that would great... Thanks |

yeah deffo.. put a 40tooth on it and watch it fly lol...
Only joking, i run a 5.5 sintered at large tracks, and thats with kit spur and 22 pinion. Deffo go up a few teeth, remember the most important thing, keep an eye on the temp though. Col.

Same prob but 7.5
I too am confused about the gearing on mine. I run a 7.5 lrp X12 motor on kit spur. Its either slow or scorchio. I ran 24t pinion at worksop and it was reasonable with speed but hotter than I'd like. Any ideas?

We ran a 10.5 in the Ebor 24 hour car on a 27 or 28 tooth pinion, so I'd start at that at the very least.

So I would think that you gearing is about right. Have you checked the speedo setup? Might be worth re-setting the speedo? |

What gearing is recommended for a 17.5 Trinity Duo ? Am going to try 34/78...but thinks I might have to go down to a 75 or even 72....its a pity you have to bore out AE spurs to fit

Sundays pace was competitive with 34/72, motor was hot but not overly; but could do with a little more top end.... so I'll try a 35 and run 2.4 internal ...awesome car !
