Default Lipo in starter box

I've got an SMD starter box which suggests using 14.4v battery (2 nimh stick packs). Is there any reason not to use one of my 4s lipo packs from my elec 8th instead, it won't burn anything out will it?

i use one (or 2 x 4900 sticks) in all my boxes no problems at all, just remember if u have an internal glow start or similar they can drain the pack so unplug when not in use

I bought a 4s Lipo of Ebay, Hong Kong, cheap, and it started the car once - then went up in smoke... its now in the bin, expensive mistake. I am going to have a Gel Cell in it by this weekend.

Not sure, they are yellow ones, 14.8v WF rings a bell. I know there are loads and loads of these on Ebay - not fit for purpose in my opinion, ive wasted £25 to learn this.

What mah/burst c was it, do you know? I've no idea what current starters pull, but planning to use my cheapo hong kong 4s 5000 20c pack. It's done a summer in my 8th so am hoping it will do starting!

Im not sure, perhaps 20C, but I could be wrong.

Its not a lot of money for a Gel Cell, im looking in to getting them - I may be able to get several (need to find out price, and try one myself first)

A gel cell? As in the 12V Lead Acid batteries that most people use in starter boxes?

RRP normally starts at about £18 or so. Ripmax import some which are £20, though I'm sure you'll get them much cheaper .

Lipo is the only way to go in a starter box, Gel cell's are way too heavy when you have your hands full.

A lipo will easy turn over a new engine which is sometimes a great help.
