Default Can i use shock oil in diffs?

I think i know the answer is no, but i'm new to nitro and went to my local model shop for some diff oil for my Hyper 7TQ Black Edition and when i returned home i realised they had sold me shock oil. When i phoned the shop i was told it would be ok to use the shock oil in the diffs. I only use the car for bashing at the moment, i bought 2000, 5000 and 7000wt silicone oil. Can anyone please advise me if i can use this oil?

Thanks in advance

Lee

the weights of silicone you describe are for use in the diffs

i'd use (from what you have ) front 5,000 centre 7,000 rear 2,000

thats probably a good starting point for most cars anyway

yeah they'll be fine

pretty much everything over 1,000 is for diffs & everything under is for shocks

mind you i can never remember ever using 900 shock oil lol

One last question!

In the manual when using diff grease it tells you to fill the diff just past the cross pins. Is it the same with the oil or do i fill to the top of the diff housing completley submerging the diff gears?

Cheers

You've got the right stuff, ignore the bottles (As realistically anything below 100wt is for shocks (we tend to use from 25wt to 50wt mostly), and anthing above 1000wt is for diffs, 1000wt being on the thin side for diffs but far too thick for the shocks). Just follow the manual carefully, and if not sure, read the manual again - it explains all.
