Not me selling it or thinking of buying it either.

I have one,I can think of far better machinery to spend £75 on than a
Mardave Cobra, speshly a bog standard OOB one.
Mine certainly isn't bog stock either.

I'd need to have been on the funny fags for weeks to spend £25 on
a bog stock Cobra,never mind £75

The thing flies running a 19 turn powered by an old 1900 Ni-Cad.
Hoping Santa will bring me a nice 4000mah Li-Po,charger and low voltage
alarm then I can look at having a go with the Challenger 17x2 I have.

Not sure though whether to put it on Associated B2/B3 rear arms and
inner rear suspension mounts(3-3's),it keeps pulling the screws with the
Cobra mountings/Meteor rear arms and that's on low/medium grip dusty
clay!!!.

The original cobra was good because was cheap but quick.
A modern day version would be great and could be a good seller

Some years ago when I was using the cobra se, mardave were talking about releasing a evo spec with a better diff and carbon shock towers. It never happened because at the time mardave had a problem with the gearbox moulding and needed a new one and the cost was an issue. Also, If memory serves me correctly the retail price for the new car was going to be approx £120 and with ansmann just hitting the market at the time it was thought that nobody would buy one when they could have an ansmann for a lot less. Chris wilkinson was not that convinced it would sell well. The car was fast at the time and I am sure in a vintage class would do well really. My car was used for the photos on mardaves website. It's evolved since then and I was going to sell it but I may hang into it and have a go with it one day.

If it was sold as a re-re vintage racer, then yes,and at the right price,it could be good.
The trouble with it though would still be the weak diff with most modern drivers wanting to use brushless/lipo power.
I mean, just look at the RC10 re-re,able to handle modern motors and batteries straight OOB just like the 30 year old one off of E-Bay can.
No chance of that with an original Cobra(proved it myself with a 27t superstock 25+year old Parma),hence the change to a MadRat 'box in mine.

If Mardave could re-engineer just the gearbox and sell it for half a re-re RC10's price, then, then, they might just be onto something.

I found my old Cobra in the cupboard a while back and have been doing it up over time.

Ive replaced the shocks and have 3D printed the front shock tower (not sure how well it will stand up to bashing around the park)(will post a pic of it).
Also made a servo clamp on the 3D printer but needs a redesign as its not that stable.

Unfortunately i dont have access to the printer any more as ive change companies but im looking to get my own and make some of my own parts like custom wheels, brackets etc..

Im hoping someone can help im looking for a body shell, does any one know where i can get a shell that fits on the cobra
im not to fussed about the original cobra shell (would be nice though)

Have looked around and cant seem to find a shell that fits.

Anyone wanting a cobra body should look at the penguin rc one. It's a superb fit and looks great.

Eh up Roadie, welcome to the murky world of the Mardave Cobra/CobRat/Cobra-ish tweaker's corner.

Ade engineered the gearbox mods, tested it and pronounced it fit for combat,so hopefully he's filled you in on what to do with the pm he's sent you.

Me with mine?,went the other way and fitted a whole Mad Rat box to it.
Happy as Larry with it,goes really well, handles daft brushed power with ease, reliable slipper, much quieter,yidda-yadda,yidda-yadda.

Also steered(literally)away from Mardave bits at the front end and have an
RC10B2/3 on it with a Tamiya Durga steering rack shoving the turnbuckles
and RPM ends back and forth.

Owt you want to know, just shout up.Prolly best to pm either of us as we really only look in here praps once every couple of weeks.

Oh BTW,Penguin's bodyshell is reckoned to be really good.
It really is the only game in town for the Cobra unless you change the chassis.Find 'em on E-Bay.
