Default 2-Hole pistons in ZX6 shocks

Can someone tell me the thinking behind Kyosho changing to 2-hole pistons in the ZX6?

I used them at TORCH on Sunday, 1st time out with the car and they seemed OK with 30F/25R oil but I went up to 40F/30R when it dried out and it became overdamped and pretty much undriveable.

After racing finished I changed back to 5-hole, 35F/20R and the car was transformed, a guy who lapped me in the final couldn't catch me and it just looked like it was floating over the bumps.

Once it dried out I used the same springs all day, Kyosho Orange front and gold rear in the kit standard shock positions. Car is built in front motor shorty configuration.

Would be grateful for any advice :-)

Most setups call for 2 holes pistons but you have to drill them to 1.7 on rear.

Are your rear Pistons std or drilled out to 1.7mm?
I found that drilling the rears to 1.7mm helps a lot...

Ps
I also use orange fronts and gold rears with shorty (oh and the rudebits spine weight)

Mine are stock, how does drilling them out to 1.7mm help? Also what size are they as standard?

The larger hole stops them from "packing up" as easily.
The std hole is 1.6mm, it may not sound much, but especially on ripply tracks drilling the rears to 1.7mm helps a lot.

Agree that the RudeBits spine weight is very useful when running shortie, I found that running 2x1.7 pistons in the rear help massively even on high grip surfaces.
