Deano - Mark and I are on level terms now so there is no “petty shit” in you words going on. Just making people aware and filling in the blanks.

I hope everyone gets what they want from GT12 and RC.. Wish you all luck.

Not at deano Stu

Ha was just about to post the same, myself and Stu are no longer the old versions, so don't read anything we say that may seem "off" as anything but positive general opinions and thoughts.

Stu has made some valid points, especially his last paragraph, it wasn't broke....

Then slate control tyres? Control tyres is the best way this class can move forwards, with everybody on he same tyres your fist sentence is even more accurate.

Now assuming you bought the best tyres to use which are contact T or jft S then I fail to see how your saving 1 pound a pair. (Retail prices below)

Contact T foam 8.50 rears 8.50 fronts 17.00

Jft s foam s foam 7.99 front 7.99 15.98

Contact control tyres 4.99 rear 4.99 front 9.98

By my maths that a minimum of 2.50 a pair or 5.00 a set and considering the contacts have a longer life and reduce grip, there is more emphasis on set up and driver. And less on the latest Speedo motor and body.

Maybe as Benji has suggested you were not enjoying gt12 as you thought and its time to move on. If you have bought the T or S foams then you can still use them at the spring nationals

i was only slating them because i had purchased around 40 brand new boxes of schumacher foams ready for the 2017-2018 season ( at full price as i'm not lucky enought to be sponsered and get them cheap ) and now i cant use them because there not a control tyre, also, i was enjoying it a lot ( otherwise i wouldnt have spent all the money on the class that i have ) until i was told i couldnt use the foams i'd spent over £220 pounds on

i'm not the only one that has probably stocked up on tyres ( all schumacher so their not losing out ) and i wish there was an open class to let people use up their old what were legal to use tyres...

be a nice of schumacher to offer to exchange these if you need the control tyre however there are still a lot of clubs running any tyre and the national will be on a tyre of your choice. if you cant use them i am sure someone will need them

Rondoola - I’m not sure what part of the country you are in, but very few clubs (if any) have adopted the “control tyre only” approach so I’m pretty confident you won’t have an issue running them.

I’d be mortified if the AGM made control tyres that Schumacher produced the only tyre to be used at the Nationals in 2018 - so you’ll be at least able to use them there.

The landscape of racing/technology is ever changing which does make me wary of stocking up on anything. I got three Ascari bodyshells only to see the new Mac shell blast it out the water from Zen Racing/Phat Bodies. But hey, we get sold goods in day to day life that get superceeded all the time. GT12 is no different.

I hope you continue to run GT12.

Best wishes
Stu.

Stu, Devon, top right of his post

There is no way the committee can make the 2018 gt12 nationals a control tyre, it would have to be proposed and voted for at the next agm, then implemented if passed for the 2019 season. If members propose turn up and vote, it gets in.

There are now a few clubs adopting contact control tyres only and also some clubs where drivers are simply trying them and liking them. Still plenty not.

Still plenty of places including nationals running open tyres.

Have you tried contacting any shop etc to see if you can exchange them for control tyres? (Providing they have not been trued etc)

Thats the problem, they all have been trued and took out of their boxes and put in tyre cases, if i do continue to race gt12 i'll make sure i dont stock up on tyres again, lol.

thanks for all the comments and ideas you've all posted on this matter..

35K views reached.. hopefully a thread that still inspires people to join this low cost, close racing class.

Check out GT12 Help... & 12th Scale on facebook. Its the largest "private" group on Facebook with World Champions, Factory Drivers and Club Racers joining together to grow a fabulous class. See you there!!
