do speedos 'go off'?
As per the thread title - do speed controllers 'go off' with age?
I was running a sensored speed passion 8.5r in my KF2 yesterday with a reventon pro 1.1 ESC and it was ballistic down the straight. I ran the same motor a couple of weeks before with an old-ish GT LPF & it wasn't anywhere near as quick. The battery pack was also the same (50C intellect shorty). I can't tell what the settings were on the older speedo as it'd been sat in a hauler bag for almost 2 years gathering dust. But it could have been running 0 timing advance. Maybe this was the difference? Last edited by cjm_2008; 13-07-2015 at 11:43 AM. |

think you may have answered your own qustion
seriously i have never had a speedo go "off" in performance either it works or it dont reverse connection doesnt always kill them either it can depend on a quick connection usally accompanied by a large audible "crack" in the olds days the brake fets would die which meant you still hade forward but no brakes !! regards dave |

I like those GT LPF speed controllers although they don't seem to push much power out compared to the newer stuff. I swap between that and an Orca and that literally feels ballistic in comparison with the same motor.

Esc doesnt go off but motors do plus batteries.

That was over a months' worth of paper round money up in smoke. I much prefer modern electronics...! Last edited by cjm_2008; 13-07-2015 at 04:59 PM. |

even worse was soldering a new motor in (brushed days ) before a final not having time/bothering to check direction of movement and demoloshing most of a final in reverse when the beeps go

Caldicot, my favourite race place ever. Won a few events there, one of them using that old Tekin esc. I miss going there every Friday.

The ESC today have a lot of boost and turbo timing by default which was not enabled on your old speedo.
