Default UK CLUB TOUR

Hi everyone!

I'm wanting to organise a uk club tour for next summer, instead of going on holiday I thought i would take a couple of weeks off and try and organise a tour of as many uk off road 1/10 scale clubs as I can and write a review of each one and possibly make a dvd, as YORCC closes for the summer we don't have anywhere to race apart from the mighty robin hood.

at the moment there are only two of us not sure how we are going to do this might have to buy a campervan. I've tried going through a few uk club lists but half of them are no longer running or some of their websites don't work.

This is gong to take a long time to organise and I will need some help, if any of you are interested in coming along or you are a member of a club and you would welcome us to race please get in touch. I reckon there are some awsome tracks out there that just don't have a website or anything.

if you could let me know when and where you race that would be ace.

cheers

fong

Sounds like a potential lot of fun.

You should not have any problem finding clubs to run at on the Sundays but the other days are going to be more difficult as you'll need clubs running evening meetings but that should be possible if you travel during the day and turn up for the evenings.

Maybe if clubs who run during the week can post on here you can start a list of clubs by day they run and then work out a possible route from that?

If you are near the south coast on a Sunday you are very welcome to race at TORCH - details are in the club section on here.

Good luck

Rob

You can come to two that are close by

www.ndor.co.uk

Broxtowe

They are both just off of J26 of the M1

Then you have got Grantham at the side of the A1

I like the CentralBooking club list, locally Mid South you have Stotfold as above, they also have a mid week meeting Wednesday, DMS Thursdays, Silverstone on Tuesday nights, MotoArena is restructuring (be positive), Taplow Fridays, Surrey & Hants, Swindon, Torch & Aylesbury, Clanfield may have buggy meets, Newbury no longer run buggys (I believe).

If you come to the east mids (ndor and broxtowe as mentioned above), you could do mansfield on the wednesday night, and ardent MAY have a full time offroad track by then, which could be open virtually all week!

so there you go, a good few tracks to race on all within 20 odd miles of each other ;-)

For Wales you have Caldicot on a Friday
Cobra in cardiff on a Sunday
plus swansea, saundersfoot, talywain and gwent nitro racers, but they are predominately 1/8 rather than 1/10 and I think are all sunday only

Cheers for the plug Timmy

A1 Racing Club run Tuesday evening club meetings, but i could come to an arrangement if you wanted to try the track at any other time to fit in with tour schedule.

A track guide with nice pics would be really handy for promoting the hobby around the country.... its a great idea and not a bad idea for a holiday for the purist

A 'common tyre' guide for each track would save hassle and expense

In the mid-east BRCA region there is also West Bridgford track which is on grass but only accessible on friday night club meetings and Holbeach Eastrax astroturf track which is well worth a visit

Hi all I've started an ongoing list of things we will need for the trip. if you think of any others then please let me know as i need to get an idea of how much it will cost me to complete the journey.

suitable transport
fuel costs
accommodation
food/drink

wheels and tyres (god knows how much this will cost i suppose it depends on the different tyres and compounds used at each club)
power for charging lipos
spare lipo packs
usual spares
gears
spare car
list of contacts of club chairman/secretary
video camera
stills camera
laptop with 3g connection

To add to the mid south, you have Ware in hertfordshire. purpose built track which has club racing Tuesday night and you can practise all day becauses its always open

There are camping facilities as well shops (including model shop) onsite too.

Rather than people join you for the whole trip perhaps they can join on the way through their area, almost like an Ian Botham tour

You could be the rc charity man

I can see this as a potential great idea, keep it going, i'm loving it!

perhaps someone out there has access to a minibus they could lend you whilst on tour, you could get the whole tour sponsored I bet!
