Direct drive has never made much sense, going from the pinion to a spur isn't technically direct drive. Direct drive implies no reduction... that isn't the case.

This is direct drive:

Needs rewording.

Anyway, more to the point. I don't think anyone should be accused of cheating in a fun class. Even if they are doing very high speeds.

It isn't just reg that didn't run a silver can... I switched from a standard silvercan to a 23T fan can after the silvercan cooked itself. Scott ran a torque tunned motor (25T I believe), I think Rich runs some sort of brushless system, etc... Let's not fret over a non-issue. This is a fun class.

Agreed - will discuss further tonight.

Mark - sorry for the confusion. Will let you know once re-worded but basically F1s, Mardaves and your "Reg-mobile" should be silver can if we are going to go with these rules.

Hope we can draw a line under all this and have some good racing this friday

Anyway, does nobody think that actual direct drive system looks AWESOME? Apparently it runs virtually silently

Meh... I may eventually have to get an F1. Either that or a Mardave Hot Rod... With angry eyes and teeth of course.

I believe this thread has run its course and will be closed. There are some good comments and arguments towards the class, to make it fair.
We will take all ideas onboard and hopefully have a clean and easy set of rules for everyone.

Cheers Dave.
