Whites it is, I'd say. They don't take long to get warm

..Was just kidding, I don't give up so easily!!
I will try again, maybe I will ask for few drops additive to some onroad pal.. BTW to come back to topic, Chris next time you could use crawler tires.. After having tried off-road indoors, truck tires, foams.. And all mixed configurations in between!! |

Gui, if you want my silvers (softest) or whites, just let me know & you can have them. I'm not racing this week but I'll bring them to the club if you like.

Cool, I do. I'll take the Losi to give it a test too. It was under-steering like hell last time I tested it, but I'll leave it like that. The tyres may balance it out

All the remaining bits have arrived so have now finished both cars.
The wishbones turned out to be from a TA01 so had to use the longer chassis on the tourer. This did mean using the shorter chassis on the Shamta Ray, reducing the wheelbase by about 2.5 cm. That, coupled with the steering revisions should make it quite nimble on friday (he says expecting a barage of abuse from Paul!!). I have also fitted a wing to it. Pictures (apologies about the pub carpet on the landing - its an antique!):

TA01 yes! Proper vintage that is.
Seems a shame to soil it with a Shamtastic shell PS: That TA01 looks very shiny and well built... So unlike you |

Oi - for once I've built a car with OCD tendancies, Paul would be proud of me!!
I would like a vintage Tamiya shell but too many $. It is a shambolic shell but at least its shiny! Just need my new brushed esc to arrive and its game on for both cars.

Wow that carpet is truly magical.
Yes, I must admit that the TA01 looks like a good effort from the pictures, but I'll need to reserve judgement until it's completed 3 rounds and a final without the gearbox being stripped and re-glued back together or random wheels departing from the rest of the car during a race. I'm sure you'll understand why I say this... As for the Shamta Ray, I love the way you freely reduce the wheelbase by "about 2.5cm" (I am wondering what that was measured with, maybe a piece of string of unknown proportions) and can't wait to see the "steering revisions". Have you actually enabled the front wheels to turn now then Chris? Oh, and you can't use the initials "OCD" in a sentence with a spelling mistake. That just doesn't work for me. Sorry, still not allowed OCD membership for now.

Quote:
I arrived at a figure of "about 2.5cm" based on how far I had to move the body mount Front wheels definitely steer now and i've even tightened up all 4 wheelnuts. As for the gearbox, all screws have been tightened to a "reasonable" amount of torque and i've even (you'll love this one) ran it for a "few" mins with the wheels off the ground to ensure the new bearings are bedded in

It is a bobby dazzler thats for sure.
Shouldn't be too hard to increase the wheelbase, although i'm interested to see if running a swb will help the steering woes.

To be fair to Chris, have you seen the slop in the average 10 year old plastic Tamiya? Chris could have said "anywhere between 2 and 3 cm" and still be right.

Lovely. Or you could try a brick on the front end.

A brick is too high class for Team Shambles. An old discarded boot will do.
