Thanks for the suggestion but that stuff is already down in all of the grass sections as far as i know (we find it every time we dig it up!!)

Problem is that the grass and earth grow round it surprisingly quickly so we just end up with holes again. If you look at any of the deep ruts that are there they stop when they hit the mesh. In fact i've seen holes forming below it cause the tires can dig in between the mesh.

It's also seems to get really slippery when it gets damp, regardless of what tire you use!

Is it not possible to have it as a dirt section with a mix of concrete to stop it from rutting up badly. Or possibly a small jump 2m or so after the bricked corner to stop the cars from accelerating so hard out of the corner?

The dirt/clay with concrete in isn't a bad idea but i still think it will rut up as soon as it gets wet!

I suggested a jump to chris just before, i think that could work but if its not topped with astro we may still get ruts in the take off... we could put a small patch on the bottom curve of the transition but leave the rest earth, that might work!!

Mesh Protected Turf
As craig has said, the mesh protection is under every single area of grass that we have at the track, including the bit that was cut up - infact it was probably only 4 years ago if that, that we put mesh down in that area - it took us bloody ages to dig it up to put the bricks down!

Tom Cockerill has made a good suggestion via PM, and that involves astro turf with the backing layer removed so that the grass can grow through it, or smething like that, maybe we can look into doing that at the end of the season unless of course we find another solution first....

Wonder where that came from.......

Scarborough club used to do that. The Grass grows through it supprisingly quickly and you just cut the grass as normal, but as it wears, it wears away to astro

I also think a little 'feature' through there would be good
