Default Leccy 8th buggys

I guess it belongs in the 'smelly thigns' section - since it's a smelly thing thats gone clean.... but who's thinking of trying some coverted 8th electric buggy if it's allowed at certain events in the future?

there was talk of a class at the next neo race, and who know - if it catches on a little then other big races might allow it.. not sure it would work against nitro buggys, I guess it would need its own specific class.

I just wonder how it would develop if it actually caught on properly, because I imagine a scaled up 10th buggy (obviously made a bit stronger) would kick any 8th scale buggy to death on a race track. but that's just a guess

I am tempted and it would make it more accesible to people, as tracks won't be constrained with noise regulations and limitations on use cause of it.

The brakes thing is fairly easy I guess - the Schumacher Menace GTRe 'thing' had a free wheel system via a one way bearing that decoupled the motor on overrun so that you still had a mechanical brake. Perhaps when you do the initial setup on the esc you could set the full brake position at 100 percent then turn brake end point down to zero. That should make a fwd and no brake set up - or am I wrong?

Perhaps a heat of J82 cars would be an easier solution -although not as tough as an RX buggy.

I love the idea - mainly just the thought of a reallly strong robust powerful 1/10th buggy I suppose - Racing on the 1/8th tracks would be awesome but you could also run them on a lot of the 1/10th Tracks!

Just imagine the jumps and huuuuge air - can only think how cool it would be and for someone that's only ever raced electric it saves a lot of hassle / time / money / maintenance plus not having to start off learning all about engines and how to tune them etc....

The other thing for me is how many people fail at 8th races due to cuts?? In 1/10th it's pretty rare to drop out other then breaking your car (which usually is driver error) so i guess that part could be more appealing to some people too??

You could still maintain pit stops if you had to change cells at least once in a race or something too!

All the videos ive seen of electric 8th look ace, but it seems way expensive to convert a buggy with the huge motor and lipos needed??

Probably no more then a few gallons of fuel and a decent engine?? I guess the other thing is that it should last you years really.....
