can losi wheel hexs fit a zx-5

I was wondering if Losi or some 3/8" hexes will fit on the front of the zx-5 sp

Does any one kno of some other 3/8" hexes other than Losi

Like ones that go over the pins not under like Losi or associated

I know some people have used the Hot Bodies front ones but they had to modify them to wor.

The simplest way is to reduce the standard kit parts from 12mm to 3/6" across flats.

Ive done it both ways. If you reduce the stock hex, ensure you keep the hex shape... lol .. I could probably do better now that I have a vice to hold it.

The Losi hexs are way too thin .....

You need to go for something the same size hex but thicker ....... HB ones have been used by a couple of people.

So the hot bodies ones fit with some shims and stuff?

Can you run wide zx-5 wheels in the front?

The ID of the hb losi hex is smaller than the diameter of the sp front axles. The drive pin is also larger. What I did to make it work was a bit extreme. I took down the diamater of the axle (a spare set just incase things went bad) at the pin location so the hex would fit up on it. I then made the area the pin fits into the hex larger. There are probably better ways but this is the best one so far. If you could get someone to machine a set of hexes the size of a streetweapon hex with the proper id, and slot for the larger pin, that would be perfect lol. If you do this, I would also recommend using a non-flange wheel nut. It seemed to keep the wheels on better.

As for the rear, you will need the kyosho proline rear axles. They go for about 21-24 usd and can be found at amainhobbies and speedtech.

Does seem a lot of hastle compared to just trimming the stock hexs down by 1.24mm off each side!

My car has been on a set of trimmed hexs from day 1 with no issues!

I did mine that way at first, just I didn't key the nice hex shape on one very well lol. And... I like to tinker. The mod to run AE fronts on my rb5 works very well though. Ive got an mrc 2wd to give a try too now, but just dont have the resources right now to go race lol.

you can use HB D4 front cvd's on ZX-5 SP and perfect fit,and use 61499 losi front wheel hub set on it.
ofcause the front diff need change the D4 style
