Tamiya TRF414M
So this is going to be my entry for the iconic cup I've been through the car sorted the diff, rebuilt the shocks and wired it all up. I need some help with gearing please if anyone can its only got options for 64dp but I've not got any and I'm not buying any.
I'll be running it on 48dp gears in 13.5 blinky

Hi,
For 13.5 blinky without a fan I would start around 5.2-5.0. If you are able top fit a fan, you can go near 4.5 easily. Internal ratio on this car is 2.13. So with a spur of 75t you will need a pinion between 30 & 32 for ratios 5.325 & 4.99. If you have a 78T spur you will need pinions between 32 & 34 for 5.19 - 4.88. final ratio = internal ratio * (spur/pinion) Cheers Javier |

With the 414 be a bit careful with the belts. They are quite hard to find. I will be racing alongside you with my TRF although I still have to find a lot of the parts in the loft!
I aim to get the car so I can gear it pretty low, but I will be using 64dp gears as they give me a little more range to balance speed and temps.

I suffered a set back on Saturday I managed to dry my new orca which I'm really annoyed with myself for doing so I need to get another sorted. I was going to run 48dp but I'm having a re think and may run 64. I've got some time to get things sorted and try and get some testing in.
I'm not that concerned with belts I can normally source ones I need.
