Default RB6 sterring parts on RB5 Vega

Thought it worth mentioning that I've tested the RB6 steering knuckles and hub carriers on my RB5 Vega at Coventry and Stotfold and the result seems to be a success.

More steering entry, mid & exit, doesn't seem to upset the rear. I realise that the relationship between the RB5 rack & inner camber link mount will not be the same as on the RB6 and the RB6 runs slightly shorter wishbones than the WC ones I have on, but the result was such that they will now be staying on the car and tested at Silverstone this Tuesday indoors, hopefully.
Cheap mod too.

Sounds promising So how about the width of the car? Still <250mm?

Yeah, never checked that, it's something else that needs looking at.

When I compared the WC to the RB6 wishbones the length hinge pin to hinge pin seemed the same, it was the shock positions that are different and the end where the hubs are there is more of a cut away on the WC wishbone.

The difference is in the bulkhead part, the bit the inner hinge pin slides through

The way I see it you have now 3 different widths... Widest RB5, then the RB6 then the RB5WC

Plenty of tuning options!

Just measured width, 250mm bang on with slim staggers. Will try some rb6 front wishbones then, cheers.

I've done the back of myKyosho Vega with RB6 arms and a TRF201 Gen2 tower (it's lower) so far so good, it's better through bumps and rotates more in corners. Will try the front soon.

I tried the rb6 rear arms briefly on wet astro and thought I lost some rear grip, though this may have been down to conditions changing / nitro cars dropping fuel etc, so I need to test them some more for accurate results. Did you use the longer 12mm rod ends on the shock shafts and is the gen2 shock tower the same for all vegas, I thought it was a generic size? Let me know, cheers.

I used the 201 gen2 tower as it's lower, this is to compensate for the Gullwing rear arms and looks better you need wing mounts too. The camber links are slightly different to the RB5 tower i am 3rd hole down innermost slot, short on the hub. No changes to the rest of my astro setup. Didn't change the shock bottoms, still on the short ones in the innermost hole. HTH's

Now have a full RB6 front end, hubs, carriers, arms, hanger and brace. Car was much better, more steering and difference between on/off power steering was not so noticeable. I could turn round some corners that before the car would push through.
