Wycombe Winter Series 2013/2014 Sponsored by www.xfactoryrc.co.uk

After the first round of the Winter Series earlier this month where Michael Wright took, TQ and Win from Darren Boyle, the 2ns round took place on a much more flowing track. With entries going up from 16 at the first round to 23 at the 2nd round.

After the first round of FTQ, Boyle was on top followed closely by Bob Holloway. Jamie Armitage was only another 3 seconds behind Holloway.

Second round of FTQ continued with Boyle leading, this time Armitage had up’d his game and closed down Boyles lead to just 5 seconds. Michael now up to 3rd place. Our South African friend (is he actually or is it a bad impression of one?) Gary Jordaan was driving like a Pagan and representing his country well in A-5. Wycombe Virgin Barry Hean was only 1 second off A-6 spot, held by Sam Dimelow.

Third round of FTQ, saw Boyle pull out a whole lap lead over the chasing pack. Jimmy Whitehall brought on the PWR and up’d to A-4. Meanwhile B-6, held by Andy Evans was closely contested all the way down to Rob Driver in C-4 by less than a lap.

After the 4th and final round of FTQ, Boyle was still top but Wright was upto 2nd now. South African Jordaan was upto A-4. Holloway was driving on a new handset after a previous club meet meltdown (smashing handset in rage) was now in A-6.

After the 4 rounds, B-1 Held by Hean) all the way to C-6 (held by Tom Kirkham) was only separated by 2 laps.
The D-Final was sewn up by Ian Smith with 3 straight wins. However the race for 2nd place went down to the wire with Craig Homer just pipping Tom Barrett to 2nd Place.

D-Final Result
1. Ian Smith, Mini 8
2. Craig Homer, EMB-1
3. Tom Barrett, Mini 8
4. Jon Faull, GTB
5. Ben Kirkham, Mini 8

The C-Final went down to the 3rd final and Driver came away with the C-Final Win, after a 2nd win in Leg 3.

C-Final Result
1. Rob Driver, Mini 8
2. Ian Roberts, GTB
3. Dave Hall, GTB
4. Tony Stark, Mini 8
5. Tom Kirkham, Mini 8
6. Colin Kirkham, Mini 8

Dimelow won the B-Final after all 3 legs had a different winner. He beat Dave Richards on Fastest winners time to take the Final’s (that was only 4 seconds)

B-Final Result
1. Sam Dimelow, GTB
2. Dave Richards, GTB
3. Barry Hean, GTB
4. John Simblet, Mini 8
5. Ryan Langton, EMB-1
6. Andy Evans, EMB-1

The A Final also went to the last leg and was between Boyle and Wrigth. After the first 2 legs both drivers had a 1-2 each, but come the 3rd leg Wright had a 3M (Mini Marshalling Meltdown) which soon progressed to a 4M (Massive Mega Marshalling Meltdown) and finished a disappointing 5th place, whilst Boyle had a good consistant run to take the 3rd leg win and A-Final win. In 3rd overall was Jordaan. Whitehall finished 4th and looked somewhat disappointed. However his mood ‘apprently’ changed on his way home when KFC was mentioned.

A-Final Result
1. Darren Boyle, Mini 8
2. Michael Wright, GTB
3. Gary Jordaan, Mini 8
4. Jimmy Whitehall, Mini 8
5. Jamie Armitage, GTB
6. Bob Holloway, GTB

After 2 rounds the championship top 5 looks like Boyle and Wright Joint 1st, Armitage 3rd, Whitehall 4th and Dimelow 5th.
The JNR Championship currently stands at T Kirkham 1st, B Kirkham 2nd and Tom Barrett 3rd.

Hopefully we will see everyone plus a few more all on November the 16th.

You can book in via www.dms-results.co.uk

Wycombe Winter Series, 2013/2014, Sponsored by xfactoryrc.co.uk

With the drivers Slowly getting to the venue, bythe time racing started we had 26 drivers. Only 4 Short of the Event Limit.

Pitting Area Nearly Full

The track was a nice flowing track with a few features in there to test the drivers precision, with mistake being punshed.

The track of dreams

After the first Round of FTQ a relative unknown to the micro RC scene, Bob Holloway was in 1st place. A whole lap ahead of current Joint Championship Leaders, Darren Boyle and Michael Wright. In A-6 was Daniel Andrews (2012-2013 Junior Champion). Jimmy Whitehall was in D-6 after having CVD nightmares (will someone buy him some?).

Bob Holloways Carisma GTB

Round 2 saw Holloway still on for FTQ, however, Jamie Armitage was now in A-2 and Boyle in A-3. All 3 less than 3 seconds apart. Gary Jordaan got his visa back just in time to be able to race at the weekend and currently running in a solid B-2. Craig Homer was running slightly lower than expected, D-2. Ian Roberts in his snazzy red angry birds themed car was running well in C-6. Ben Kirkham, the youngest driver of the day had improved, on his 1st round run.

Darren Boyle, Helping run race control and the meeting

Round 3 and Holloway was still ahead on his round 1 time, however, Whitehall was now up to A-2. This meant the top 4 were now covered by just 3 seconds. Harry Redstone was up to B-1 with Barry Hearn in B-2. Jonathan Simblet, B-3, Andrews, B-4, Sam Dimelow, B-5, and Dave Richards B-6 were all covered by less than a lap (remember laps are only 12 seconds long). Colin Kirkham and Andy Evans continued there family feud in C-1 and C-2.

Maybe Dimelow and Jordaan should of played with their Micro more than there F1's!!

Round 4 and Wright put in the only 24 lapper to take FTQ, leaving Holloway to cry into his majestic beard. The only other people to improve in round 4 were Richards moving to B-4, Roberts to D-2 and the other Kirkham, Tom up to D-5.

Mr Yazoo, Gary Jordaan

The E-final was won by youngster Ben Kirkham with some generous driving by Dave Redstone.

E-Final Results
1st - Ben Kirkham, Losi
2nd - Dave Redstone, Losi

The D-final was sewn up after 2 legs by Roberts

D-Final Results
1st - Ian Roberts, GTB
2nd - Mark Andrews, GTB
3rd - Ian Smith, Losi
4th - Craig Homer. EMB-1
5th - Tom Kirkham, Losi
6th - Jon Faull, GTB

C- Final had to go down to the 3rd leg to decide the winner and Tom Barrett came out on top with 2 wins, Dave Hall just missed out with a 1st and a 2nd. Rob Driver was in 3rd, whilst Colin Kirkham and Evans carried on the feud and smashed each other to pieces and finished in that order.

C- Final Results
1st - Tom Barrett, Losi
2nd - Dave Hall, GTB
3rd - Rob Driver,
4th - Colin Kirkham, Losi
5th - Andy Evans, EMB-1
6th - William Ridgly, Losi

B-Final also needed 3 legs with, Redstone, Andrews, Hearn and Dimelow all able to win. In the end Andrews won followed by Hearn, Redstone, Dimelow, Richards got bashed around into 5th place and Simblet took 6th with a noisy spur gear.

B- Final Results
1st - Daniel Andrews, Losi
2nd - Barry Hearn - GTB
3rd - Harry Redstone, GTB
4th - Sam Dimelow, GTB
5th - Dave Richards, GTB
6th - Jonathan Simblet, Losi

After winning the 1st leg of the A Final Whitehall was quietly smug, only for that to be undone on the first corner when he jammed a dog bone. Wright won the 2nd leg, with Jordaan in 2nd place, however, after everyone having a good leg and 1 bad leg, anyone could still win going into the final leg. However, Wright took the 3rd leg and A- Final win by over a lap. Holloway was second, a lap ahead of Boyle.

A-Final Results
1st - Michael Wright, GTB
2nd - Bob Hollwoay - GTB
3rd - Darren Boyle, Losi
4th - Jimmy Whitehall, Losi
5th - Gary Jordaan, Losi
6th - Jamie Armitage, GTB

Event winner Micheal Wright just Chilling

With 26 drivers racing this was the best turnout to date. With many reports of great fun and relaxed atmosphere making a great day.

Current Championship points

1st - Wright - 598
2nd - Boyle - 592
3rd - Whitehall - 582
4th - Armitage - 581
5th - Dimelow - 559

The juniors are led by:

Tom Barretts

Great race report Sam
But it was Rob Driver I hit on the straight after he fell off the jumps.
I'm sure I was leading it too at that point
Never mind, still really enjoyed the day !
Have a great Christmas and see you all in the new year.
