Well my parts bin Kyosho Lazer ZX-R is almost complete now. I just need to find some Lipo holders that fit without modifying the chassis.

I used a b44 lipo tray. It did require new holes to be drilled in the chassis and it just fits in between the central top plate support and the rear but it looks factory

I only use Lipos in cases. The 2S-Lipos are fittig perfectly. I only had to set the original battery-holders 5 mm higher. But I am still using a belt-cover on may lazer. So the Lipo get no contact to the belt and could not move and the beltcover is also fixing the Lipo.

Regards
Ralf

Hi pacman.

Judging by the screw placement on the rear bulkhead, you're running a mkII chassic?
If that's the case, order my LiPo holder from Fibre-lite.

No holes needed. Just 12mm countersunk screws and a 3mm spacer on the front battery posts.

That looks very neat Crashtest33! - I think i'll look into doing something similar for my Lazer.

On my old Corally touring car (with Nimh battery slot chassis) I secured the battery down with the usual battery strap but I applied single sided self adhesive foam tape to the u/side of the strap which helps grip the battery pack - then I wrapped glass reinforced tape around each battery post & secured the tape around the side of the battery to stop it from sliding out. Lead weights are stuck to the chassis to locate the inner edge of the battery & stop them from sliding inwards towards the belts etc. This method is cheaper but nowhere near as 'Pro' looking as special made parts!

Welshy40 - I would definitely be interested in your new design.

Crashtest33 - My car does have a ZX-R mk2 chassis but the holes for the battery posts are not in the same positions as yours.

Has anyone mounted a shorty lipo in their Lazer? My race batteries are all shortys.

I think after designing it that I based this is on a Mk2 chassis but Stephen from Fibrelyte can modify it for the Mk1. Hope this is what you wanted.
