Default Cobra TM2

Couple of pics of my cheater car, TM2 V1 with a Cobra Racing Products Ali chassis fitted:

So far I've done one race meeting on astro and been really impressed with the car/chassis, well worth getting a Cobra chassis, best upgrade for the car you can buy

The facebook link doesn't seem to tell you where to buy from either. Although I don't do facebook and may well be missing a trick.

It appears that Cobra Racing Products is Jason Bennett if that helps.

Sorry Mark i must be half asleep as i missed this thread all together, you can order a chassis through me although there won't be anymore out this month as the boss is off for a few weeks in the sun

Appreciate your feedback mark as it's always good to hear from others rather than just how i find the cars when i test them

Here are a few more pics,i have been running the car with no front top deck as i found you could generate even more grip in all conditions,i also tried the car with 1 screw in the side rails and raised it using a washer, again you can tune more grip in or out if you want by using the rails as a tuning option

I tend to post more on facebook as it keeps everything together better in the group,i will check oople and update more here as we have new updates and chassis's coming up over the winter

Sorry to hijack the thread I see the Cobra TM2 chassis is for the TM2 and not the TM2V2 so I seen this on Inside Line Racing web page:-

Inside Line Racing are doing an ally chassis for the TM2V2 which is +8mm from the standard length. Its a direct swop for the kit chassis and also provides the option to move the motor forward 5mm for the indoors racing.

They also have two options on the rear top decks, one to replace the kit top deck with more flex and one for the motor moved forward which of course has the extra flex.

Chassis

Standard Top Deck with the extra flex

+5mm Top Deck with the extra flex

I have noticed that most of the UK team use this chassis.

Does the transponder work ok flat on the chassis or would it be better to have it perched a tad higher?

I think it depends on a number of things. Transponder model, Receiver output power, loop, and more. I have had mixed results (but I also did with the TM2 carbon chassis).

On the carbon chassis i greatly increased the signal strength by drilling a hole in the chassis and mounting the transponder over that.

On the alloy chassis raising it up, or mounting it on it's side solved the problem.

Thanks Kev.

I thought that I had heard of people having trouble with carbon chassis and wondered if the aluminium type had the same effect.

Probably only gets to be a problem when the loop performance drops below normal.

My Cobra chassis should be here within the next day or so.

Is there any set up tips or things to do or not. Changing from the standard carbon chassis.

Any help appreciated all.........

I just bolted it on and changed nothing on the set up and it was spot on, you may want to check your ride height as its heavier than the kit item

I preferred it with the front top deck removed, it added a little flex and smoothed out the steering a little

Best thing to do is get a good base set up from Petit rc website, go to the track and try a few changes out and see how you get on
