Default Lipo xx4....

Hi Guys

Ive managed to easily fit a 3200 trakpower saddle in my xx4 and also bring the car back up to full nimh weight i weighed my eastpower 4500 cells and they weighed 425 grams so the lipo weighs 202 grams so ive added around 220 grams in lead....

I made the battery straps as tempory ones until i can get a pro pair made. And i can move the weight and lipo forwards and backwards to allow for diffrent weight distribution like with nimh.

Also fitted the cr rear end while i was at it to give it a go.

Are you sure those straps are going to hold them on heavy landings, etc, i can see the batteries shifting. I might also be tempted to wire the batteries the other way round so the link wire is at the back to keep it away from the servo horn.

Ive ran my wire accross that way with nimh since ive had the xx4 and had no problems. The straps have velcro on the bottom of them to push down more and the battery straps are very tight im also going to heat shrink the lead to make it a little thicker. The current lipo thats in it has got a cell that has gone down in it so ive got to send it back to trakpower tommorow. Ill buy a new one in the next few days and ill secure it more securly.

Some rubber under the strap might work better, couldn't ever see it moving with that.

Im thinking of sticking the other side of the velcro to the top of the cell.

Is there room for that? Brian Preddy has some brilliant straps, might be worth seeing where he got them....they are like the originals but flat carbon and stretch through all the cell slots.

Ah yes they probably will, but you can't put them in the optimum position.

are they brca legal cells???

As Ian says, you need to secure them longitudinaly, you can't rely on clamping pressure (not a good thing to be doing to a cell) to hold them in place. Even use some battery tape if needs must.

Well I know it's offtopic to LiPo, but how you fitted that CR rear end? My last attempt was fail due cvds falling off diff outdrives

Middle hole on wishbone for shock otherwise you get too much droop. You also have to file off the inner edge of the caster block or on full compression the camber link will pop off.

Do I have to use steel diff outdrives (which part number?)? I have plastic one with steel saver on it and it looks like can cause binding.
