Default 1/10th Off Road International Race for 2009!!!!!

Silverstone Buggy Club are looking into the possibility of holding a large meeting next year which will be open to anyone.
It is likely to run over one of the May bank holidays and will be over 4 days.
We are looking at 150 Drivers for each class 2wd/4wd, there will be a control tyre for dry/wet.

With some good names expected this is sure to be a great meeting.....

The track will be like nothing else in UK at the moment with all new features. Forget if you have raced at Silverstone before as this will be all new.

More details will follow over next few weeks etc.....

If you would be interested or have any ideas for entertainment etc.... then feel free to voice.

****Please note this is not confirmed as talks are in progress, trying to get some peoples views etc*******

How would it work without LiPo for the bump up finals? Just asking as I can't think how that will work with charging etc.

Also wouldn't it be a bit of a problem with heat build up for bump ups in electric? Again just asking as I know how hot some cars where coming off the track at Oz after just 5mins.

It can work very easily...

Even with the cells we have today you will only use around 2000mah in 1 run!!! that is or needs around 20 mins charging... most people have 2 sets of cells.
Not going to reveal too much just yet as this is all to be confirmed with club etc... but plans are in place.

Default A bit premature!

?????? 4 day meeting?????May bank holiday????????lipos??????control tyres??????bump up finals???????
Some interesting ideas,
BUT,
just to put the record straight, NONE OF THE ABOVE have yet been discussed by the Silverstone club committee, and don't want to end up with egg on their faces if this doesn't happen as stated above.
It's great to see the enthusiasm as the new astroturf Silverstone track is being built, and please let this enthusiasm continue, but please let's not jump the gun. First let's get the track built, and run a great regional next month.
The club ARE KEEN to run the Regionals again next year, and it would even be great to consider a possible National, (but of course this has to go through the proper chanels first) and are at this stage considering the possibility of a "Silverstone Grand Prix" weekend event, and a summer series, but all details have yet to be discussed by the committee. Have to consider neighbouring clubs dates and Regional/National dates don't clash. So please be patient.
As stated, please give us your ideas and input to consider, after all, it's you the racers that we aim to please.

A work party are at the track today, and weather permitting hope to make good progress, and more photos should be posted tonight.

We hope to soon be redesigning/updating the Silverstone club website, so keep an eye out both there and here on Oople for progress reports.

Hope this isn't hijacking the thread either, but would this be in addition to the masters eries, or changing it to a one off this year?

personally, if you bump up loads of times and run out of batts, let the next fastest guy bump up.

at the end of the day, if you DO bump up and can't race your next race then you are no worse off than if they don't do bump ups at all,

if you do bump up and can race then count yourself very lucky!

To avoid the overheating issue and to give racers more time, 2 classes could be run side by side instead of 2wd one day and 4 the other. this would allow the C finals of each class to be run then the B`s etc this gives the cars a chance to cool and also some more time for cells to charge
