It was fitted by an experienced mechanic onto my Renault Espace, had good oil supply etc, engine had idled on the ramp, then into first outside to steam clean when it started making a horrible noise.

paid by debit card, darn, well, see if he wants to play ball, if not, may end up being a small claim court job.

How the *ell has the compressor back plate fractured like that?

I've used a few Turbo Companys over the past 15 years, and all the best people from those companys seem to be under one roof now, CR Turbo's.

No idea, but from experience in engineering, it was either a) already fractured when fitted, or b) fitted incorrectly, as it is only cast alloy.

Cheers, to be honest, it was a punt in the dark to be able to shift my car on, so now spent to much on it already so cutting my losses, just not impressed that what was suppose to be a fully serviceable turbo wasn't, and now they are trying to blame the garage, which I know are not at fault as I personally know BOTH the guys who did the job.

Guess this will be another head banging car moment!!
