Default Yoko Bmax4 versions I vs II vs III

Hi Guys

I need to sell a car and want to correctly advertise it. Its a really nice Bmax attached here and sold by a fellow oopler who deleted the sold thread.

Looks pretty top spec but just want to be sure. It is a BMAX 4 III or is it a BMAX 4 III worlds (if there is such one). Cheers

With YZ shocks, some cf and alu options and lightweight driveshafts. Why did you cut the plastic chassis?

what's the chassis sticker say?

This car could be an EX Lee Martin car. He had one cut at the front like that for a big event I recall.

rear roll bar mounted how Shin used to build it, but the actual mounts have been removed.

It's a very nicely specced Bmax4iii with light weight chassis, yz2 shocks, ti turnbuckles, and alloy prop shafts.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I recently packaged up to sell it so will find a photo and check the sticker

I was told by a fellow respected oopler that it was Lee Martin's ex car but I bought it as it was a Bmax4 not for any reason associated with a former team driver as not that I don't people but always hard to prove provenance to these types of things

I will put a few more photos up today as I'm more interested in keeping it now

Thanks

The chassis sides were cut, i recall to allow his Proline Phantom b44 body shell design to fit properly, before they had adjusted it to fit this chassis.

The roll bar mounting, I used to mount mine like that too, as it stops the bar catching on the inner ball stud mounts.

I'll try find photos of it at a big event. Was sticker from 2014 Euros perhaps?

Bretts, i'm just observant ;-)

They don't specifically show the chassis sticker, but i do think its the same car. He hadn't started running that Proline shell at this point, and I think its running saddles here, rather than the lighter weight shorty chassis.

I can't find photos of Lee's car at this time, but here are shots of Naoto's car built in 2014 by Shin: http://eos.redrc.net/2014/04/chassis...o-matsukura-4/

And another set at the EOS I first went to:
http://eos.redrc.net/2014/10/chassis...o-matsukura-6/

and later Shins own car:
http://eos.redrc.net/2015/02/chassis-focus-shin-adachi/

I think Lee's car is in between, notice the blue nuts. By the time of Shin's photos, he's using black nuts.

I'm sure there was an event that I saw this car at. Perhaps it was Worksop or something local?

This event was using saddles, but i'm convinced that's where the chassis sticker is from.

I've seen those hole cut side pods appear on another car locally recently. I'll check out the rest of it.

And here is the car with the PL Phantom body on:
http://site.petitrc.com/setup/yokomo...Raceway201502/

I'm sure i saw this car at the BWOC early 2015 at worksop.
Setup: http://site.petitrc.com/setup/yokomo...rksop20150208/

You car has the yz2 rear arms, wing mount and shocks, and pretty much fits the description in the setup, plus the chassis was used at the 2014 euros.

Please post more detailed photos...

I think I will take it out of the box I was going to use for posting it and take some more photos this evening - but I think its too nice to sell - if it has been setup by Lee Martin - then i may take it for a drive

Yup that the car for sure. i was going to suggest comparing chassis wear marks...

You should contact Lee to see if he has a matching period shell to complete it. He'll certainly verify that it is his old car.

Well thank you again

It is a very nice car so now I'm going to get someone to make a replica shell I think and put it on the shelf

I also have Ellis old FS2 so I may see if I can get someone to make some replica shells

Thanks again Neil it really was nice you went to all that effort

I think the point with this car, is that its a constant evolving piece, and you can track the progress and setup changes between each meeting. I'm fairly sure this car was last used at the BWOC, which I'm sure i saw it in its present state that you have it. The setup sheet matches, the front C hubs are dremmel modified to be spaced back, and it has the YZ2 parts on.
I looked on the EFRA site to try to find some documents that referenced the chassis number, but there is nothing on there.
The car used at EOS a month after this is a fresh one built by Shin, so i think your car was retired in Feb 2015. Lee probably held it as a spare car after this time, but I cant see it used in any later photos of "big" events.

No problem. Was genuinely interested and was positive I'd seen it before. Once it sparked my interest I was not going to let up Until I'd proven what I'd thought. ;-)

If I were you I would message Lee to see if he has the original shell for it.

Another fact about the car, the nuts that are on the battery posts should be inverted lock nuts instead of the regular grey thumb screws on the original kit. These were never tightened down fully to allow the chassis to flex both sides. It was found that tightening up the battery stay would alter the chassis flex on the battery side, altering the handling. Running the battery loose fixed it.
